Hey In My Dreams! I've just started on here properly too and am really embracing the challenge, however OH has most definitely not had his lightbulb moment yet (he's asking me to look for concert tickets online right now - lol)...
I need to stay on this site this time as I think the support and motivation you receive here will help us through.
You mentioned about a spending diary arriving, is this from a website or just something you have got yourself?
Good luck with your journey!Me, DH and DD (17 months) clearing our debt for a better future. :hello:Morning all (I found the other smiley faces
)
Up bright and early for a run with the running club, which is free so very DFW of me!
Hypno - thanks for the encouraging words. I like to be in charge of it too, although admitedly I haven't made much headway into it yet, so I don't mind OH not knowing everything, but something would help.........like our budget and who our mortgage is with!
Determined 2b - you are 100% right about the need to stay on here. I have been on here before, started a diary, stopped posting, lost heart and the debt crept up and so I am the proof that it doesn't work to go it alone.
I do feel really positive today, got a nice long run planned this morning and then OH is off out this afternoon and I will hunt out ebay stuff to put on today and tomorrow. We have two computers around the house that we can put on and various bits and bobs. Also want to make it a NSD if possible, now I am putting it down and having to show it to OH it is making me think that I can't really buy that lipstick for £12 that I REALLY wanted but have managed without for the past 30 odd years...........
The other positive thing we have done is to get rid of the cleaner we had (meaning to do it for ages) and we are now drawing up a flylady list of jobs to split between us and also the kids, which they will get a modest amount for. Hopefully teaching them the value of money etc. They are going to be paid per job done which they are VERY excited about, and I am more excited about, finally getting some domestic use out of them!1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Oh, to have a cleaner again - it is one of those things I have promised myself I will have again when I am debt free......until then, I just can't justify the cost. I just can't seem to stay on top of the housework - whatever way I tackle it - flylady, bribery, half hour a day.....etc......it is all very much beyond me!
My OH has no idea what our monthly bills are - he would only guess at the amount of the mortgage, or the council tax, and certainly wouldn't think about things like life insurance, tv licence etc.........Financially, he would be in a complete pickle if he were ever on his own.
I need to get back into running - have done next to nothing since the marathon in April......and have the added weight to prove it. I used to do an early run on a Sunday when the kids were doing their paper rounds, and should really really dig out my trainers again.........another thing on the list of "I shoulds" :rolleyes:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Hypno - I saw that you did the Marathon, maybe you should enter something else to have something to aim towards, although TBH the cost of entering races isn't cheap.
I am a fell runner really and love getting up and going in the hills. Really clears my head. Am part of a running club which I pay £10 a year for, enter races which are £3 or £4 and just enjoy myself. The only cost is trainers and running gear but ask for stuff for birthday/xmas. Did 15 miles this morning and still recovering!
No Spend Day so far :j, the first in a very long time. Temptation was put in my way when I was told about a sale on in a running shop but have decided to stay in and not risk it! Trying to think ahead of what I need to spend this week and nothing horrendous springs to mind. Should find out about OH's tax rebate this week as well fingers crossed.1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

All the running clubs near us are at times that I cannot do - they are usually straight after work (I often work late so end up missing sessions) and are a long way from the office, so I end up getting caught up with traffic and just get annoyed. I need someone to call for me and drag me around the block a few times!
If I get in the marathon again next year, I will get my trainers out and have the motivation to train again, but that is not ideal because I will have had 5 months of doing nothing.........*sigh*.
As for hills - I live in Norfolk........my definition of a hill and yours may be slightly different :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Managed two NSD in a row! Amazing :j!!!!
Had a relatively expense-free but nice weekend. Stayed in last night and then today took the kids out for a 4 mile trek over hills and yonder. I am assuming children who are crying by the time they get back into the car is a sign that they have truly had fun and are worn out:cool:
We were going to have a family day out at a local farm and playground in an estate but it worked out at £20 for the family!!!!!!!! I would have gone along with it beforehand but not today, so we sacked the idea and went for a free walk instead! FIL has offered to buy us an annual family pass for National Trust which would mean we could have cost effective days out with the kids. Going to look into it a bit more first...
Rest of day spent cleaning, cooking with the stuff we have grown in the garden and relaxing.
Off to scoot around for some cheap pet insurance now and hope to get some via quidco!1st debt - Next [STRIKE]£583.32[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£408.71 [/STRIKE] £0 :j

Hi, I thought I would come and say hello on your diary. I have read through and it really made me smile because I too have an OH who leaves all that stuff to me. In some ways I really like it because I am a bit of a control freak, but when it all gets me down I would love for him to take the reins and just sort some of the stuff out. He is getting better and has really embraced the first year of our DFwannabee journey. He is brilliant at doing the grocery shopping because he just buys what is on the list!!! Simples......:rotfl::rotfl:
I tend to browse and can almost always find a reason why DD aged 6 needs something new and pink!!
If okay with you I will pop in often and share your journey with you.The good you do comes back to you.DFW Long haul supporters No: 1340
