Benefit Busters Ch4 9pm

If you missed the first episode of Benefit Busters you can watch it via Channel 4's website. If you missed the second episode - tough. It was, apparently, briefly available but has now been withdrawn. This has, of course, fuelled suspicions in some quarters that A4e has insisted on it being pulled. Or was it the DWP? Or possibly someone who was filmed for the programme and who now objects to how he / she was portrayed? Channel 4 are not saying.
The rumour mill keeps grinding away on the idea that the FND contracts could be cancelled, or at least that one prime contractor could find itself without a contract. It seems that the contracts have not yet been signed, perhaps because negotiations are still going on. But the contracts have been awarded. And a crucial part of FND is that clients have a choice of providers. This means that in all areas contractors and subcontractors have been spending money on setting up facilities and staff. In Hull, for instance, Working Links have had to rent space for the first time. If the contracts were pulled at this stage, would they not be entitled to compensation for this expenditure? Perhaps that's another reason for the Conservatives' reluctance to spell out what they would do. This element of choice in FND also raises the question of what happens when clients all insist on avoiding a particular provider. Benefit Busters has stirred up a hornets' nest, and the DWP should get its act together and respond.
Good on Ch4 for getting final edit on their side prior to showing.
I was waiting for the catch up and wondered where it had gone.
Classic tale of the how vanity (in this case, the business vanity of A4E owner) can trip one over.
She probably felt the show would convey how truly wonderful and wizzy her company was (hence those shots of her 'Considerably richer than thou' big house whilst she spewd out corp spiel claptrap) and Ch 4 showed up the flaws in her mega scheme.
The mega money making scheme that the civil servants fell for as they were 'sold' her services.
I have known, of 4 companies locally who had the telly makeover then the massive rise in trade that the show generated.....then the follow up sent them back down again. Only 1 left trading now. They didn't realise that the show wasn't about them at all...it was about the presenter guru skills etc. They then became a visitor atrraction and thought it would last forever.
A4E may be able to talk her away out of this one but this show could be her downfall. She did the secret millionaire , apparently, so def has a big ego inside her.0 -
Quite likely nearlynew. If they are giving the candidates £90 dress allowance to buy a suit and £100 for the candidate to get a job, plus £100 goes to A4E for each successful plate, it's a right gravy train isnt it?
Does the hiring company get a bonus for hiring someone too, or do they get a portion of A4E's money under the counter?
It's nice to know my taxes are being put to good use.
What A4E actually get is £100 per person per week they are on the course(usually 13 weeks)they get £2000 for each one they place in a job,and according to C4 they have been awarded a new contract for 5 years worth an estimated £700 million, compared that to the £90 the jobless get to make them presentable for a job(haircut clothes etc),and the fact that the back to work "bonus" used to be not £100 but £1000.
Hopefully this programme will backfire on A4E with the public accounts committee asking some probing questions come October.0 -
I hope this is reviewed after her awful performance (or lack of) in last weeks show. True colours came flooding out................ blagger.I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0
