vodafone/carphone warehouse - cancelling
Just want to clarify my position before I contact Vodafone.
Signed up with Carphone Warehouse on-line on Sunday 26th July for a £20 per month Vodafone contract.
I changed my mind the next day, but was advised by Carphone Warehouse that the goods had been sent out, and that I had 14 days to return/cancel from the date I received the new phone.
Received the new mobile phone on Tuesday 28th, and immediately returned via Royal Mail special delivery (guaranteed delivery before 1.00pm next day). On checking with Carphone Warehouse their system says the phone was received, and the contract cancelled on 30th July.
Today I have received a "sorry your leaving" letter, and a bill from Vodafone for £3.16 which appears to be a pro-rata charge of the £20 monthly contract from 26th July to 30th July.
Am I supposed to pay this?

Why?
Doesn't distance selling come into play?0 -
Distance Selling gives you the right to try the goods to see if they are fit for purpose if you purchase them sight unseen - charges for services used (inc line rental) during the period you are doing so are explicitly still allowed by the DSR.
(no links so..) Google DSR and see the PDF guide on the first result.
