My FA is off until next week. I cant hang on waiting for him anylonger so in order to avoid suffering a stroke or something similar I have just rang upthe halifax and explained that my FA is off untill next week and i reallyneed toknow if my application has been approved.
THANKFULLY MY PRAYERS WERE ANSWERED.The very nice lady I spoke to said it has been approved providing they get the relevent information like my latest payslips etc etc which they have requested off my FA but as he is away their requests have not been answered yet.
So i'm off to fax copies of my wage slips to my FA office!!!

orbit the homebuy direct people!
They made numerous !!!! ups.
Orbit are quite frankly useless. How do the Government tender these things?
I am due to exchange contracts with Persimmon on Tuesday, so I gave my solicitor a call this morning to see how it is going and got told they are waiting for the authority to exchange from Orbit. I phoned up Orbit and got told they can't send that out because there is an error on the Solicitor One(?) form and they need our solicitor to sort this.
So back on the phone to the solicitor and get told Orbit haven't informed them of this, no letter recieved, no phone call recieved. So they went off to call Orbit to sort this out!
They did this with us as well where they need something but fail to actually tell you. So you are left thinking it is going ok, then get a bit worried, then phone them up and then you get told.
Also been confirmed that the Homebuy scheme is closing and all people on the scheme have to be in there home by 31st March. So come around October time the scheme is effectively over for new applicants where the house is yet to be built.0 -

Great news, about time. There are a group of us who have been saving deposits for years, then the property crash comes and we are all closer to buying a new home. Govornment introduce homebuy and all of a sudden developers withdraw their reductions and offer this con scheme. Now prices have gone up over the last few months because ftb are getting overvalued homebuy properties with 100% effective mortgages and screwing the small sample of sale figures.
Lets get rid of this con and return back to a normal property market:exclamatiScams - Shared Equity, Shared Ownership, Newbuy, Firstbuy and Help to Buy.

sgh1976 - where did you get the news that Homebuy Direct is closing?
I've had a look around the web for news or announcements but can't see anything.
Has anyone had any dealings with Catalyst for Homebuy Direct - my application has been with them a month now but still waiting for authority to proceed.
Thanks0 -

From Persimmon Homes. They have been told they have to have everyone going via them in their homes by the 31st March 2010. Any later than that and the equity loan from the Government is void.
Persimmon have sent letters to everyone who is currently buying to say they promise to have the hous ebuilt inside 6 months. A new page was added to our contract saying if any our of mortgage offers expire (Halifax and HBD) then we are no longer legally bound to buy the property.
What stage are you at with your HBD application. Have you reserved your property?0 -

Bless. So a scheme that has run since April 09 and will end March 10 has really messed your situation up. Be a boring world if everyone was the same.0 -
sgh1976 - yes I have reserved a property, seen the FA and passed the affordability check, registered with the HA, bank is now waiting to do the mortgage valuation as soon as Catalyst issue authority to proceed
what I can't get over (and i'm not a naive person by a long shot) is the amount of venom directed at any property assistance scheme and those that might see them as suitable to their own housing needs as soon as its mentioned on these forums. For example the comments about overvalued properties that keep being pushed, on HBD it says verbatim
"If the value of the property has gone down, Government and the developer will only share the sale proceeds that are left over once the mortgage has been repaid"
As i'm intending to live in my property as a home for a number of years this gives me reassurance about negative equity not being an issue until a fall of 30%.0 -
I would give them a call and chase it up. Orbit issued our authority to proceed inside a week (a rare moment of good work).
With regards to the comments - as with everything some won't be happy. Fair Enough they don't agree with the idea but if all they can add to the debate is pointless anger then let them get on with it. The only people they upset are themselves.0
