Hi everyone:hello:
I have been lingering around this site for a few weeks. I am a "crafty" person and did hampers last year for all family and friends.
I have taken great inspiration from this board and also plan to make memory boards.. I had tons of wadding from all my quilt making a year or two back, so will put this to good use.
I was wondering if there was an old thread on others who have done this, for idea or tips, I had a look but couldnt find anything.
Many thanks! xx

thanks for replying, yes thats what I mean, Just thought would be nice to see others peoples work and interested to know if people chose cork boards/canvas or other... which is cheaper option etc... but doesnt look like.. there are any people on here that do them. Anyone want to join me in starting? I have got some fabrics and bits, just need to buy some pretty ribbons and choose whether to do it on canvas etc, then I can get started, am going to do some smaller one for people hampers etc also.0

Why don't you use some MDF - it's probably cheaper than a canvas, which is going to be covered anyway. If you buy it from one of the big DIY stores they should be able to cut for you to size too and out of one big piece (you may also be able to get smaller pieces, not sure?) you should be able to get enough to make 2 or 3 memory boards, which you could make as gifts. I don't think that a cork board would be sturdy enough for this particular project.
hollyandmatt, I think it's a great idea and you should go for it! I'm thinking of giving it a go myself as I've actually happen to have all the materials lying around at home and my DH owns circular saw so he cut the boards to size for me. It'll make a great Christmas pressie. You have inspired me - shall let you know how I get on.0 -
After a good hunt I've finally managed to find a link for you.
I could remember that a while ago that these boards had been made on here.
Thanks to Soblivion, here's a previous link with instructions

This was the one that I made in the link CandyB101 showed you, just from a cheap cork memo board.
As I say I only used what I had here and it was for my 17 year old son so it couldn't be pretty but I have seen some really lovely pretty ones.
If you use google images and type in "french memo board" it will show you loads of pictures for ideas.0
