Won't their be more funding avaialable in April?. Not much use I know when you want to buy now but still, it's better than nothing.
Which areas are you lookign to buy in Wessie? I'm looking to buy in Glasgow city, though have spotted quite a property in East Renfrewshire. It's going to be a total pain to stick to the one area as I would consider several areas. You are are only permitted to change areas once, and not allowed to change back of you decide to stick to the original.
I didn't submit my application till the 5th of October and don't even have an acknowledgment but I have checked and they have recieved the form/0 -
Wow this thread is really helpful isn't it0

hiya we are looking in east renfrewshire but to be honest are struggling to find things that meet the criteria link homes want  they will not allow for dining rooms that have been made open plan etc and we need to find a 5 or 6 apt so most potential dining rooms that were the important 5th apartment are discounted.... as are consevatories.
whereabouts in eat renfrewshire have you seen a home?
i had enquired about area change as we border closely with east kilbride which is south lanarkshire. we are off to view one in eaglesham soon that we hope meets their criteria.0 -
What a nightmare Weesie. I didn't realise it would be so problematic. I've saw a few and like you it wil be a 5 or 6 apt we need as we have 4 children. However, as you will be aware these are think on the ground as there isn't a lot on the market given the economic climate and the time of year isn't helping either.
I don't even know if my application is going to be accepted, let alone how much I will receive (if any) so maybe I'm jumping the gun even looking.
Are you starting to panic yet? I'm sure I read that your passport expires on Xmas eve. Does this mean that you have to have completeld the sale by then?
Goodluck with your viewing. Eaglesham is lovely!0 -
Im on the last hurdle now. Everything is ready. Just waiting on the paperwork from the LIFT solicitors reaching my solicitors before I can sign on the dotted line.
Damn Postal Strike .....
Good Luck everyone0 -
We were accepted for a mortgage with nationwide but we are waiting on the paperwork coming through. I've found them to be so slow and we keep getting hurdles tripping us up but hopefully today they will fax it to my mortgage adviser so we can get going and get our date sorted! It's frustrating having to wait on everyone else lol I'm just looking forward to getting out of this damp flat with rubbish heating!0

how is everyone doing?
we are still really struggling to find anything that meets their tough criteria despite offering to put back up the wall or put double doors on they are still insisting they have to assess the property as it stands right now
or the other issue we kep facing is the 3rd bedroom not meeting the 6m square so not counting as an apartment
we have 7 weeks on thursday to find something :eek:0 -
Hi all, me and my partner applied 4 months ago for the 1st time and got all our quotres and promises etc, sent off the paperwork to the LIFT, they phoned to say they need a letter of confirmation from our advisor that we can pay the mortgage, all good.
So then 7 days later we get a letter saying we are refused because my partner has already owned a property 10 years ago but due to circumstances had to move out as her partner at the time became violent, so she was a single parent and therefore we didnt get accepted for the scheme however our advisor told us thats nonsense as hes done LIFT schemes for couples who have owned properties before.......???
So im applying again now in my name and well its not looking good as i only earn 17k a year and are looking for a 3 bedroom house around 120k for my family, we have 2 kids and also have a 15k deposit. The most the bank will lend me according to my advisor is 2.5 x my salary as they wont allow higher??
Really !!!!ed off, my friend who earns 23k a year and her partner who earns 26k a year have just been accepted, she applied saying she was single and she just bought a 119k 2 bedroom house for her and her fiance, 49k a year salary between them and they need the LIFT scheme more than a low earner like me trying to get on the market with my family.... really annoys me
sorry for the rant.2x £5 JD Voucher
I want my Sledge Book & DVD0 -
I am crossing my fingers for you weesie! I am sure you will find something. I've been keeping an eye on houses in our area and the majority that match the criteria for LIFT for a 3 bed in our area have now been snapped up! Its gone crazy. I'm glad we went for our one so quick. 2 weeks and we get the keys! Its a long process but well worth it and you WILL get there. Don't panic! Its frustrating I know. I know they have to have rules but I guess it would be good if they loosen just slightly for silly wee things!0

Thanks Abcynthia i am so pleased for you i wish we were at your stage already :T
I am not giving up and we may have some progress...i hope!
So far we have been dealing with a lady at link homes who in my opinion has a very flippant and arrogant attitude to the whole scheme and has not been helpful at all,
however when my husband rang on thurs he spoke to a man called alan who is in charge of the properties in the east due to our lady being off.
Well he was a breath of fresh air and says common sense has to prevail, everyone has open plan nowadays and that he could not rule out a house just because someone had taken off the doors between living/dining room!
for example if he saw a floorplan of a house with a living room over 21 ft in length that had previously been 2 rooms then he would not discount it!
So that would bring back into play a good few houses we have viewed and discounted due to this rule she had given us. Now we just have to send the schedules again along with info from alan and hope she uses some of his common sense to count them as apartments. fingers crossed xxx0
