T Mobile c****d up my number port! need advice/help
I have ported my number over from Orange to T mobile, the port was supossed to go ahead on Wednesday, but as of today ( Saturday ) I have no phone number. I rang T Mob on Wednesday about 8am to say that someone had called me on my home phone to say that when they phoned my mobile they got the message that they had dialed an incorrect number, was advised that the porting was in progress and that it could take 24 hours!!!
So, the number that I was issued with when I got the phone has been disconnected, and the ported number (which I have had for 10 years, and use as my buisness) is comming up to people who ring it as a wrong number. I have rung them every day to find out what is happening, but just keep getting told that the problem would be solved by the morning, and to cap it all off, when I rang again today. was told that nothing could be done till Tuesday, as the porting section, and IT were on holiday till then. I have asked if they are going to compensate me for loss of buisness, but got told that they are only prepared to give me the line rental back for each day that I have no phone number, so in total for me losing £100's of work, I am being offered about £4!!! Phoned Orange to ask if I could come back to them with the same number, but it will take at least 7 days to have the number sent back. went to the store that I bought the phone from , but they were no help. Is there anyway of getting some decent compensation for loss of buisness, and inconvienence. I tried to call their bluff and said that I would cancel the contract, but they just said OK, if you want to cancel, go ahead

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Is it a business account? If not then probably not. But if it is you may be able to claim. Although it's best to carefully check the terms & conditions as they probably have a limitation clause for this.0

Yes it is a buisness account, and the T&C states that they are not liable for loss of earnings, but it stinks that I am being offered £4The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. It does stink, but unfortunately whats right and what's legally right are often quite different! I'm no expert on legal things (I just had to do a business law module for my accounting exams a couple of years ago so had a very basic knowledge of contract law but it's mostly forgotten now). It's probaby not worth the hassle of pursuing it. Unless the amount you have lost is very large, in which case you could have a look at the Sale of Goods and Services Act and get proper legal advice, but I'd imagine that big phone companies will have covered themselves very carefully for situations exactly like yours e.g. with the terms & conditions.0

Always worth mentioning the regulators name in the conversation.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

1. Follow T-Mobiles's complaints procedure.
2. If you're still not happy take the matter up with the Communications & Internet Services Adjudication Scheme.

I would slap that £4 on their face. Seriously! They were at fault and did you record the conversation on your phone? That can be used for evidence. I would speak to Trading Standards first.....0

Thank you all for the advice, my number has finally come through after 4 days. Sorry but the thanks button seems to have disapeared
