If you say that, this borrowed money will still exist somewhere. It just can't disappear when it is payed back!

    That is exactly what happens.

Why would this affect house prices though?
    You want more???

Well.. ok then.. if you insist.

On the borrowing money stuff. I believe that the missing money was money that never existed. Bankers wheezes, parcelled up, sold on, sliced and diced. Leaves a big hole in finances - witness Iceland for example. People have to pay it back - that's you and me through taxation. Otherwise the countries economy goes bust. Not sure about this, don't care too much, it's just frightening.

House prices were a huge bubble. A teeny bit of that bubble has gone. People are clinging to a belief, based on bubble prices, that a tiny bit off makes them reasonable again. It doesn't.

Don't ask for any more - I ain't got none.

Now why would 'Dan' thank your post if it is completely counter to his original posting? The sooner the mods crack down on the blatant bear flaming the better.

I asked the question, don't mean I know the answer.

Really? So what was the sentence "a bull victory" meant to imply? It obviously wasn't a question, hence the absent question-mark, so can only be construed as a statement, a fact.

You are clearly attempting a poor form of bear baiting, and as I said before this board deserves better. Well done. :T

    My question:

Is it time to close the baord?

When the economy closes, it's time to close the board.

Or when enough people ruin it with such threads as this, it's time to force the closure of the board.

I think you know it's hardly the time to close a board personally, and I think you have no idea why your asking the question yourself.

Bearish I may be but in my part of the world house prices are not coming down too much in the £100 to £150k area. Yet I am seeing much larger falls in the more expensive properties. Dreadful new build apartments, one bedders down from £169 to £129k in a most publicised " investment " development. Who would buy those?

It's a shame you and shakerbaby wern't around 12-18 months ago. This board was much better, no sock puppets, no mutiple IDs, just everyone laughing at, and insulting Dan for suggesting the bottom will happen Spring 2009.

Once you learn to spell it, we'll consider it.
