I am at my wits end with this! This is the bath that was new when I moved into my rented flat- 4 years ago. Since then, no matter what I clean it with nothing will shift the dirt on the raised circles- which I presume are for grip?

The surface of the circles are rough and raised and seem to hold onto dirt. Ignore the dark two marks- they are chips in the enamel.

So, my OS lovelies, what are your suggestions?

I've read recently about a lady who's grandson poured bi-carbonate of soda into a bath water as he liked the fizz&bubbles it made and since she hasn't cleaned with anything else.. that is how good effect it left on her.

I didn't try it yet, but I do use a soda for cleaning of burned pans etc and I can see it working in this case too.. It will l"ift" the dirt from the ridges (sp?) if you like..

Am I right in thinking that the spots are a kind of built in antislip thing? If so, I would soak the bath in a bleach solution overnight then scrub with a washing up brush.

If its not, maybe limescale remover?
  • Neat bleach, for as many hours as possible, and scrub with moistened bicarb, and an abrasive pad/brush.

    I've been Money Tipped!
when we moved into our grotty house I cleaned the bath about half a dozen times with bath cleaners and was pleased it looked better, if not perfect. And finally used it.

Then, a few months later I cleaned it with bleach. And felt ill that I'd been bathing in what i thought was a clean enough bath!

Oven cleaner is a bit more powerful than bleach and would work a bit faster.
