JSA interview at Jobcenter

Thanks for all your help so far guys.
When I first 'sign on' (then every 2 weeks after that), I go to the reception area or reception person and say I'm signing on right? Then I just wait for my name to be called out, or am I given a ticket number, etc...?0 -
In my JC, when you walk in there's about 200 security guards, tell them you're there for initial JSA appointment, and they'll find you on a list, give you a piece of paper. Go upstairs, to see another 200 guards, give them your slip, they'll say go sit over there by that coloured card. Then someone will have a coffee and a chat with their colleagues for 45 mins, before eventually calling your name.

My experience has been far better than Beenie Cat's. I have always found the staff at my JCP to be polite, if sometimes rushed (but *always* polite about it!).
I would imagine your first sign on will be next week. I've had to claim twice in the last 3 months (due to them messing up with my first claim, so closing it). First time I was given a signing on appointment three days away, the second my appt. was a week and two days away. The day you sign on, though, is based on some part (I don't remember which) of your NI number.
When is your initial appointment with them? It's practically Thursday now, so there isn't much of the week left!0 -

Initial appointment is Thursday afternoon. Hopefully, I won't be delayed.
Hope my first sign on date starts next week!0 -
Before claming JSA, I was actively seeking work already, and have rejection letters etc... Do those count when they want proof, even though they are not dated during the JSA claiming period? Or do they want to see the ones during the JSA claiming period?
I am a graduate by the way.0 -
You don't need 'proof' as such, they give you a booklet or form and you need to write a minimum of 3 steps you have taken each week towards looking for work.
For example:
"Sent CV to xxx agency"
"Registered on Monster, uploaded CV"
"Applied to xxx"
or on mine i even put stuff as simple as "Searched JC website" and that was sufficient.0 -
As BeenieCat says, but when you actually go to sign they will still ask you to tell them what you have done, even though you have written it down lol0

Update
Got my job seekers agreement, other paperwork, and sign on dates.
Now they will send my stuff for processing.
They ask me to check the form printed out saying what I put on the online application and during the phone interview, to see if they are correct. There's a question about when you last worked. I put down volunteer work which only happend in summer 2008 only, and not paid. Did I do the right thing? Or do they want 'paid' employment written on there. I'm worried that I will get rejected because of this.
Hope you guys can help.0 -
As long as you stated it was volunteer work then it should be fine, i can't remember if there's a separate section for volunteer work or not, but honestly don't worry, if they query it they'll contact you and you can confirm it was unpaid.0
