That's actually a good installation for Magnet. You should see some of the really bad ones I've seen...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

  • I'm with you mwilletts i've seen some shockers too!
Just get your own installers, check and double check the plans and order in plenty time, like tell them you need it 3-4weeks before you do!
    That mrs macchicken to you!
  • I agree totally. We have our own installers who managed to spot the vast majority of these errors. Heaven know what would have happened if we'd got Magnet apopinted fitters. We just wanted to get the job done before our fitters went on holiday.....less haste more speed or whatever the phrase is

    a 5k worktop! !!!!!!?

i must live on another planet.
    Get some gorm.
  • Still, £2500 doesn't sound bad to me. I went in to a Magnet store the other day for my 3350x2220 kitchen and the chap told me I'd be looking at £8-12k including fitting!

I could barely contain myself from laughing. Needless to say I won't be going back.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
We had them come round, kitchen started at £8,000. I was in the front room as i refused to deal with them, it was the wifes idea.

He made a phone call, it came down to £6500, then £6000. Still beyond a joke, she said she would have to speak to me, in the time they were in the kitchen. I had climbed out of the front window due to trapment in the front room and had gone out in the car.

In the end we bought our own kitchen from B&Q, and fitted it ourselves for a whole sum of £920. £240 of that was for the tiler. Its not perfect, but it will do for now. :)

    The kitchen went something like..

    2x 300mm drawerline
    1x 600 oven unit
    1000 corner unit
wine rack (cut down to 120mm)
    1000mm unit

    600mm wall corner unit
    2x 800mm wall units
    2x 500 wall units

    Matching end panels for unit
    9mtrs of worktop
    Plinths

Hotpoint Oven from B&Q for £120 ex display
Samsung touch sensitive hob £199 from currys
Bosch Cooker hood - £40 currys (ex display)
    Splashback - 99p (currys)

    New sink, taps etc..

Tiler - £240, supply tiles & fit etc..

Not that expensive, but boy very much hard work, and no mitred joints. Still need to put an end panel in next to the washer, but if i fit the integrated dishwasher, then its a new wine rack again..

    Avoid..
  • Oh dear! I have just decided to order a Magnet kitchen!! It doesn't seem such a brilliant idea now! But they seem to best be able to meet our requirements, (have tried 4 others also.)
Am not using their fitter nor purchasing any appliances from them. Neither am I having their worktops, sink or taps.
They gave me the 50% August 'sale' discount, (which still holds good) and have just offered a further 10% discount if I put down a deposit by tomorrow! (Bit late but I have known this for 10 days.) Was just wondering if I could hope to get any more knocked off. Anyone any experience of getting anything more off at this point?
Thought I might try for an integrated washing machine to be included, as mine is pretty old and will probably need replacing in the not too distant future, but would really prefer more cash off. Would appreciate any helpful suggestions. TIA

why not just give it a try? the 50% is imaginary anyway - most kitchen places like magnet make up retail prices so they can give crazy offers like 50% off. just chance your arm - say make it 20% off and you'd put the deposit down today!
