    Not so
There are some clever scammer type people out there who can re-chip the cards and boxes and basically get their Sky for free. Very naughty and illegal, and stealing, etc.

I tried to sell my Sky+ box on the car boot the other week, they wouldn't even pay £25 for it including the card. Sod ya then!
    I'll flog it on evilbay.

Yeah I think I was aware of this in the past, I'll be letting him know it's box only, Thanks for all your help!

Well your freeview box gets freeview - but not your sky box - simple

No, but it gets almost all the same channels, off the top of my head I think the only freeview channels you don't get with a decommissioned sky box are Dave and Virgin! and you do get some funny extras like Zone Horror/Reality etc grat for rubbish but funny tv. I would send the card with the box as without you can get hardly anything, when we take the card out of ours all we get is the Channel 4 channels (E4, More4 etc) not even BBC!

Oh and if you do sell it OP please remember to disable any child locks you have on the box and/or let them know your pincode, otherwise if the buyer wants to watch any films over a 12 they will get very annoying "input pincode" messages. There were no late night horror films for us with that box.

But not all and they are two completely different methods of delivery. One arrives at your home through a dish and the other through your aerial.
So while they are similar in many ways they are not the same nor interchangeable

My point is that if the OP includes the card the buyer will be getting a useable TV service (as long as they have an existing dish and cables etc) with practically the same channels as freeview, without it the box is nigh on useless unless you have a sky subscription.

I can't fathom though why somebody who as the dish and cables would benefit buying a Sky+ box. You couldn't use Sky+ surely unless you paid for it per month:confused: with or without a card.

They would be able to get more channels then "normal" TV. They obviously wont be able to use the Sky facility, but will have access to extra channels. Dont forget that when someone moves house they tend to leave the sky dish etc there so the next person moving in has the opportunity to use the box with it.

Edit - sorry I just re-read & realised Im talking about a sky + box & not a normal box, I'm going to bowl out of this conversation now before I embarrass myself more! :o

There box might have gone faulty or they might just want to upgrade from normal sky but sky themselves want a ridiculous amount of money to do it.

I brought my sky+ box of ebay and upgraded the lmb and cable myself.

Your point is well made, although I am amazed at the number of channels I get with no card in my non + Sky box.

My point is that you cannot get freeview from a Sky box.

    And you can't

Do you have any of the functionality of Sky+ then?
