Should I sell the viewing card with my Sky+ box?

As it says on the tin, I am selling my Sky+ box on Ebay and have had a question as to whether it includes the viewing card. I know what the viewing card is, and have cancelled my subscription as of Sep 1st. Should I send the viewing card too or not? Shouldn't the bidder have their own viewing card? I don't know if it will have any implications like me ending up paying more or anything. Thanks for anyone who can help!

With the viewing card the box can act as a freeview box, but you do not need to pay any subscription. We use our old sky box as a freeview box & have done for a few years now.
I could be wrong but I cant see any problem with including the card, if you have cancelled your subscription with sky & made sure any direct debits are cancelled with your bank there isnt any information anyone else can get from them.0 -
If you have cancelled your sky then the card is useless. Maybe they don't realise this and think they will have access to Sky by purchasing the sky box and card
.
I personally wouldn't send my viewing card. Just reply saying it is for the box only and no card will be sent.
ETA Just read post #2 and yes you would get a few channels but I still wouldn't send it.The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room.:TBig thanks to all competition posters:T0 -

I do know what you mean but it is not freeview.
A Sky box without a card can receive many free to air channels but it cannot get "freeview"
I would destroy my card and just sell on the box.
We use an old sky box without a card and it does fine for the basics for us0 -
We canceled our sky subscription a few years back so we dont receive sky channels, but we receive all the freeview channels that we receive in the freeview box that we have upstairs.
Once you have had the sky box for over 1 year it becomes you property so are free to do as you wish with it. My sister in law purchased a sky box & card from ebay a few weeks ago & is able to receive all freeview channels aswell.0 -
Don't know about + boxes, but the basic box with work to get some free channels ( obviously when wired into dish !) adding a valid card ( even when subs ended) will gain access to a few moreAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Not so
There are some clever scammer type people out there who can re-chip the cards and boxes and basically get their Sky for free. Very naughty and illegal, and stealing, etc.
I tried to sell my Sky+ box on the car boot the other week, they wouldn't even pay £25 for it including the card. Sod ya then!
I'll flog it on evilbay.0 -

All the "free-to-air" channels - not freeview - different system, with (in some cases) different channels available0 -
