Can anyone help please. I'm interested in getting an iphone but I am rather confused over the mixed info regarding the the 3G and the 3Gs.
What I'm trying to find out is what is the difference in speed on them. Some reports that I have read say that there is much difference. Plus the O.S3 upgrade gives you all the same software functions but you obviously dont get the enhanced hardware upgrades.
Can anyone offer any advise as to what to choose. I understand the 3Gs is the newer phone...
Also, when will O2's Monopoly with the iphone run out??

The 3G S is faster than the 3G, it has a digital compass, it has a much better camera, it can record/edit movies, it is available in larger capacities (16 and 32 GB), and it has better battery life.
That's about it really.
As for O2's "monopoly", that'll run out when Apple choose not to renew their exclusive contract with them. There have been rumours, but no one outside of Apple knows.0 -
There's several good videos on youtube that visually demonstrate the difference in speed between the 2 of them. Go on youtube and do a search.0

Apparently it can also copy and paste things!!!0

It should do, such never before done innovative stuff should run smooth. I'm told that while they can patent "copy and paste" and stop other phones using it, they have patented their implementation of it, watch out you IP theaves!:mad:0

You do understand how Intellectual Property works, don't you?
Google have quite a few patents relating to mobile phones (including one revolutionary patent for a mobile phone case of all things, or as they put it a "cellular telephone casing, for enclosing and protecting a cellular telephone without interfering with the normal functionality of the cellular telephone, the casing having walls made of vinyl covered foam which define an interior volume for fully enclosing the cellular telephone"), but I don't hear you crowing about that.0 -
If you two are going to embark on yet another marathon disputation upon the subject of the iPhone, I reckon you should both send :A Martin Lewis :A some money to pay for more server space.
Has Apple, by the way, patented its obsessive anal retentiveness about having sealed-in batteries on everything it sells? They've now extended this to their laptops - another reason why I won't buy a new one.
Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:
As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

I heard that orange and t-mobile will be releasing the 3G from Sept/Oct this year. O2 retains exclusivity on the 3GS though. Something to think about if you wanted a 3G.0

Nope. And here's why.
Fewer than 5% of laptop users own a spare battery and sealing them in enables Apple to make them bigger without increasing the size of the laptop, thus enormously increasing the battery life. 8 hours for a computer as powerful as the 17-inch MacBook Pro is pretty awesome.
So, everybody wins.
Well, 95% of people do anyway.0 -

I'm always being told that 95% of people burden themselves with Windows machines instead of Macs.
I'd love to see anyone actually get 8 hours uptime between charges on a 17" MacBook Pro. Particularly if they use its DVD drive.
My companion and I rotate five batteries between our three MacBooks Pro (why does the normally literate Apple always call them "MacBook Pros"? ) and use one of these. It's a brilliant device: works well, pays for itself over a year's use, light to carry and comes with its own power supply.
If one of us is travelling we take it with us. You can leave a hotel room in the morning with a fully-charged ProBook and two fully-charged batteries, giving you twelve hours of uptime. Overnight, you can re-charge all three.
What use is a laptop with a sealed-in battery that runs out of charge in the middle of the afternoon?
