So are things going to be worse for the economy next year than the start of this? (basically the hight of the recession)

Go on give it a punt.
You could even vote on what the nationwide figures will be tomorrow if you like (before they are announced :))

Britain sleep walking towards a decade of economic misery

Summer recovery will turn to a cold winter

    Beware of the trap.

And don't forget, inflation is theft and debt is not wealth.

Particularly liked this bit "All parts of the economy remain in recession, apart from the public sector." That should make The_White_Horse & Co happy then. :rotfl:

Thans, OP - it's nice to reaad some well-argued pieces that actually examine the long-term implications of how we're all going to deal with the mountain of debt we've built up to 'rescue' the banks and economy (or so we were told).

I'm not really interested in this or that indicie or statistic.

All I know is the root cause of the problem has not been fixed.

As long as our debt based money system is in place, anything could happen. However, the phoney economy which has built up over recent decades is unsustainable and something has to give.

As I have said before, I believe we are living through a truly momentous period in history; on a par with the industrial revolution.

This economic crisis is one of many currently upon us. If we add to this the problems of rising populations, increasing migration, resource depletion, food and water shortages and climate change I think it is clear that a reduced standard of living is on the cards for many years to come.

When the dust finally settles over the coming decades, life will never be the same again and the last few years will be looked back on with sadness and incredulity.

This is not pessimism, but facing reality.

Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

I thought you posted this thread and made the links :)

Article writers are usually far worse predictors than statistics and indicie's. A fact about non facts :)

So what is hope for the best in your eyes, you show no hope in your posts?
