Undecided about broadband

I still cannot make up my mind whether to get broadband or to say with btyahoo surftime. Currently I am paying £14 dial up 120 hrs a month and I am tempted to go with tiscali or aol but feel safe with bt as I have not had any problems with them. I also like to keep their line rental because of the cheap access number I use e.g 18185. Please can somebody help me to make up my mind. I am also lying low to see with carphone warehouse offer of free broadband, there might be some deals ahead with other providers?
A friend just went with ukonline and he says he pays £9.99 a month but had to buy the equipment which to me works about the same. It also has wireless but I read with wireless you need to tighten your security. I do not know much about wireless and how secure it is unless I know a bit more about it, I will opt for one. It does make me feel I am left behind as I am still on dial up. Thanks.

Once you've had broadband for a while you'll wonder why you ever put up with dial up.
I'm now with Madasafish and very pleased so far with the speeds I've been getting and their attitude to their customers.
I particularly like being able to "listen again" to BBC Radio programmes.
Google Earth is another wonderful facility which I find useful.
Being able to download adobe files in an instant is useful to me but maybe wouldn't appeal to some others.
I use Homecall for billing my landline and so can still use 18185, 1899 etc for phonecalls. Not sure what their broadband is like though so don't take this as a personal recommendation but I gather that PIPEX have taken them over so I think it will probably be very good if it isn't already. My weight loss following Doktor Dahlqvist' Dietary Program
