Six Flags Magic Mountain vs Universal Studios LA

We have one day to spend at either Six Flags Magic Mountain or Universal Studios at the end of our trip next year.
I would be really interested to hear from anyone who has been to both as to which they would recommend, and why.
Daughter loves rollercoasters, will ride them all day. DH enjoys them too, but has had enough after about 6-8 in a day. (I hold the bags!
)
Thanks

Six Flags Magic Mountaindepends on age of daughter really but would say MM in LA as if I remember correctly the US rides are better in Florida. The parks in LA are much smaller in comparison.0

Six Flags Magic MountainHave you tried Knotts Berry Farm? They have lots of roller coaster rides there and special offers as well. Im sure they have a website as well

Universal StudiosI prefare Universal.. perhaps due to my age (26)"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0

Six Flags Magic Mountainwe did the backyard bbq offer - not bad value at all and a good range of rides. I personally didnt find the other parks good value compared to Florida but my kids were 13 and 15 and loved this place0

Six Flags Magic MountainMagic mountain everytime for me.
X2 is unbelievable, not much out there like it, if your daughter wants to try a unique ride she's never done before that would be it.
Lots more rides there than at Universal, we didn't get to Universal last year, the day we were hoping to be there the place caught fire and poor old Kong burnt down!!

We've done Universal and loved it, but the following year decided to try something different, so did Disney's California Adventure - which is not so 'kiddy' as Disneyland. We were 2 adults with 18 and 16 year old girls, and we all had a ball, despite us being wary about the 'disney factor'. Enough rides to go on to cater for all fears!
btw, we checked all places on www.tripadvisor.com and chose not to go to Magic Mountain because of the reviews - I think we got the impression it was just ok, but as we didn;t go, can't really comment.
finally, are you doing any studio tours? We did the Warner Brother 2 hour tour, and had a word in our guide's ear as we'd found on the web that it has the set for Central Perk from Friends. She took us there at the end of the tour, and my daughters were thrilled!0 -
Universal StudiosDidn't get chance to visit Six Flags when we went however Universal Studios LA is awesome! It really depends on if you like scary rides or fun rides. The rides at Universal are universal in terms of appeal, they are all pretty fun and nothing really scary. However I'd imagine Six Flags to have some more fast rollercoasters.
The studio tour at Universal is one of the best and far suppresses the tours in Orlando as its a real live working set.0 -
Six Flags Magic MountainSix Flags if you like roller coasters and more adult orientated rides.0

Took my two boys (16 and 11) to MM last month. Found a voucher on the AAA site to get in for $28pp (you need to be in the AA to use it). You'll also finf $20-off vouchers online if you hunt (try the Visit California site)
We chose this park a) because it was a bargain, b) because we've been to US in Orlando several times (and loved it) and c) because it has some truly astounding rides.
We had a fantastic day there. It's a superb theme park - no idea what's behind the bad reviews. We liked everything about it, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The queue for X2 was horrendous - over an hour - but all the other rides were fine.
There was also an excellent stunt show (skaters, bikers, boarders) which broke up the day really well.0
