Cash ISA rates

I have a couple of fixed rate ISA's maturing in September, would I be correct in thinking that in April institutions tend to offer better rates to attract ISA savers? If so am I probably better off just accepting a poor instant access ISA in next month with the intention of transferring to a better fixed rate next April rather than accepting a fixed rate next month.

Many of the table-topping Cash ISAs in March/April are for new money and do not accept transfers. It's best to grab a good rate when it comes along like the Newcastle 5% ISA this summer.

That was one of my concerns however the two ISA's that I want to transfer from BM and Nationwide both were fairly good deals over 6% that I did transfer into. Maybe I should go both ways. One in a current deal and one into instant access looking for a transfer next April.

With a fixed rate ISA maturing next month, the interest rates at the moment are crap.

From what I can see, although I don`t like fixing above a year, the 3 year fix at 4.2% from the Principality B/S looks as good and if not better than any.

    Any thoughts.
