there is no discount when paying by tesco vouchers (clearly stated on the paperwork/vouchers) also Tesco only NW pay 50% of the voucher face value.
NW use champion wiper blades (rubbish blades)
bulbs maybe you should have checked them before the test (all part of keeping your car roadworthy)
yes they should have called you but all these faults would have been recitied during the mot test to save time (especially when you have a full day of tests)

dont get me wrong i hate NW with a passion but your on this occasion i think they have been reasonable (apart from not calling you)

Even though this is an old post, back to the original topic, I made a guess at my headlight alignment just before the MOT as I thought my headlights were throwing a bit short after changing the bulbs. The MOT was passed with no mention of the headlights. I wonder how those cars with after market HID kits that don't throw a beam pattern and just scatter light everywhere can pass an MOT?!

    Hi,

This probably is the second time I am putting up a post but I thought I would let people know of the rip off at Nationwide Autocentre in Acocks Green(Birmingham) today.
I had booked a Toyota at this centre and the quoted price was £40 online and at the test centre it was £39 and as soon as I said I would use tesco vouchers I was told that the offer would not apply and the price was quoted as £54.95, I had no option but to go ahead. I got a call that there were minor faults and the MOT had failed and they had to fix up a few things(I keep this car in good condition and I had recetly changed the brake pads, disc and the tyres) and the charges were as follows,
    Headlamp Align £12.99
Nearside and Offside wiperblade not clearing screen: £7.99+£7.99
fog light bulb and brake light bulb £4.95+£4.95
and the total including VAT was £53.72+£40(tesco vouchers).
For some reason every time I go here the problems are the same wiper blades etc.
Looks like I was probably better off going elsewhere without using the tesco vouchers.

why did they do all this work without your permission? did you check your brake lights and fog lights before test?
were your blades torn or not clearing the screen properly?

most places would do the headlamp aim for free,or at least cheaper than that. but the prices for your wipers fitted seems ok,again the price for the bulbs is a little high unless they are a nightmare to change.
    ...work permit granted!

Not if you run round with knackered wipers and lights you don't, ;);)

I was thinking of instances where people plonk those £50 kits into their Halogen projector headlamps and you get something that looks like...
