Hi, We are planning on buying our DD a Nintendo Ds Lite for christmas but her fave colour is yellow (she is 3 but hogs my ds all the time, so thought as she is expert at using it, she amazingly is, we'll buy her one for herself as her main present)
The only prob is i have seen some yellow ones, apparently pikachu yellow, but they seem to only be from Hong Kong (ie. on ebay, ebid and a few other sites), i don't remember this colour ever being available for sale here so are these fake or am i just being paranoid?
The one i was looking into getting is from jackofallgames.com, does anyone know if this site is genuine and to be trusted?
Would be grateful for any help. Many thanks in adavnce.

Any idea on the website jackofallgames.co.uk, can anyone advise if they are reputable? They have the SafeBuy assurance thingy - does this mean anything in this day and age? Many thanksMummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0

its registered to a company in the west midlands so seems fairly legit ive not brought anything from them but you can get stuff cheaper in well known retailers than on thereReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. cool thanks - yeah its just the hassle of finding a yellow one, the lengths us parents go to to keep the little ones happy ey, lol. They are selling the yellow one on there for a pretty good price, on par with DS lites everywhere else. I have looked on ebay and the yellows all show up as from HK, or UK sellers shipping from HK
I know the ds's are not set to regions (as far as i'm aware) so they could still be legit ones on ebay - just being cautious and trying to stay away from auctions just in case. Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
They do have different colours available in different territories though. The models you can buy in Japan differ from the ones in Europe, which differ from the models sold in the US.0

DS's are NOT region coded, any contry variant will work with will work with any country games. The ONLY exception to this is the Chinese variant which has a different ROM set to have more chinese characters in. The games come in different languages, as long as it has english language in it it will be fine.
Personally I have a UK DS fat, and black and red Japanese lite version I bought on holiday there. As long as you can work out how to get it into English (no hassle as I had another English one to work out the menu's from) and buy a ULK power adapter (my Japanese one is 110V) it will be fine.
DSi's on the other hand are region coded, if you buy one from outside you th EU you will have to buy games from outside the EU.
Back on topic the yellow one was a VERY limited edition had has a Pic-a-cuu logo embossed on it. You had to enter a lottery to get the chance to buy it (read the link) and it was only sold through te Pokemon centre in Japan, so I'd be suprised if they are genuine, probably knock of cases wrapped around a standard DS. I may be wrong but they were so limited I can;t see anyone having a stock of them left.
I'd say buy a UK legit one, and stick Pokemon sticker on it..0 -
May not be the exact solution to your question, but you could buy a yellow protective zip round case, or alternatively if you are competent with a screw driver and it is a fiddly job, you could buy a yellow ds lite casing and change it. For yellow protective and ds cases just search ebay for 'ds lite case yellow' and both options will come up.
To see if you think you could change the case click on this Youtube link to see if you are up for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BJmhXZZ_j0&feature=PlayList&p=D1076E3160F61391&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=6Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

Quite apart from legitimacy there is always the chance that you could get stiffed for import duty and VAT by HMRC + carrier handling fee with that something of that value from HongKong. Figure around 20% + £10 or so for ParcelFarce handling charges. Of course it may not be stopped.0

The PSU will probably need swapping, £5 from Game, and if it goes wrong you'll have to return it, Nintendo UK won't honour non EU warranties.
Not big issues, most will be fine, but something to consider.0
