What if I die

This is a very short question now, as the last long write up disapeared

I have some money (not a lot) stashed away in shares/paypal/bonds/ under a stone type money that no one knows about, if I was to die that money would get lost.

Is there a website that all this info can be stored, and if I was to die in a car crash or whatever, can be accessed by a certain person with all the info to redeem the money?

Regards Mick

  • Why not just make a will and leave all the details with your solicitor?

Because this sort of information alters by the day, I am sure you cant keep altering the will every week, or can you?

You can change your will as often as you like but your solicitor will charge you. If you are concerned I would just write a document outlining all your assets, that you up date and print out when ever you feel the need and leave it where it will be found in the unfortunate event of your demise. You still should have a will but that will be more vague like I leave every thing to sick donkeys without saying what every thing is.
  • I'll look after the information for you!!

Interesting question though, the probability is that the money will just get lost in the system somewhere.

You can leave a basic will saying what you wish to happen to your estate.
Keep with it a piece of paper with your account details and monies.(Or write on the back of the will itself) Alter it as and when you need to. This will make you assets easier for people to find without you having to re-write your will constantly.

Don't write on the actual will only on a copy, or it could be invalidated.
  • As Poster 4 says. Keep all financial documents together, and include a list of info such as Solicitor, a/c nos, etc. and where any "stash" money is. You can update your list and print it off as often as you like.

You will just need to inform one or two trustworthy people, presumeably the executors of your will, where the list and documents are to be found.

we were given an A4 template from the solicitor holding our wills, to itemise where everything is held - and what we've got. It just lists bank account details - only that we have accounts with X and Y, and I suppose it will be up to the executors then to track down the money. Would be more fun to leave no trail for them though and leave them to look under every rock and stone............;)
