What if I die

I am just going through probate for my dad who passed away in June. Part of the process is a detailed asset search which looks for everything he has. Luckily his paperwork was all very organised and I think I know everything he had from that, but the search is worth it to make sure i am aware of everything. The search will pick any outstanding shares and the like, so if your loved ones were to do this they wouldn't be lost!0

I would keep an updated list with the copy of your Will - most people have a drawer with bank statements and insurance policy and that type of information in.0

can't you notify the bank where your money is held who your next of kin is? or something along those lines?
unless it really is literally under a rock?
treasure hunt anyone?0 -
I would also make a Will and keep an updated copy of your assets with your Will. DO NOT write on the original Will, as another poster said, it could invalidate the Will. Only write on a COPY if you need to.Hindsight is a wonderful thing0

I gave a list of all my bank accounts, property and shares to my brother. Also left a will with my solicitor, which does not include all of the above.Marching On Together

Get a list of all the bank statements for the last year - they will have the dividends for the shares added so it is easy to check what shares etc they have0

there was an article about this sort of thing in the times today - apparently www.legacylocker.com allows you to store online password and things as well as important copies of documents. never used it myself so no idea if it's any good!!
