Plus Size Clothes & Hot Cakes!

If you don't haVE your own supply of plus size clothes I advise all eBayers to go to car boots this w/e and snap 'em up - if they're in good condition i.e.
Whever I list clothes from size 16 up they go like the proverbial scorching cakes e.g. today listed 6 items at 2.30pm. Sold 2 at 2.45, another 2 half an hour later and another one this eve - 1 to go!
OK its not making me rich but it sure beats the hassle of taking them to car boots myself and haggling over pennies with moody buyers! God, how I regret the really good stuff I let go at car boots before getting into ebaying!
Trust me folks, plus size clothes are where its at!

I love the simile "selling like hot cakes" when applied to eBay. Has anyone ever tried selling hot cakes on eBay?:rotfl:
i've never found bog-standard secondhand clothes, even in larger sizes, to sell especially well on eBay for me, but after losing weight, I did sell some of my better size 18 clothes for decent prices.0 -
As an ex size 18 rapidly approaching size 14 with hopefully more to lose I look forward to making some money to buy some new clothes that fit me. Thanks for the tip.0

I listed a never worn size 18 jacket on Ebay and got no bids and only one watcher. I wonder what I did wrong.

Did you list it between about 4:45 and 6:30pm on a weekday? It's often pretty dead then. Other reasons for failure to sell include high start prices, bad photos which don't show much detail, failure to specify postage costs, insufficient or contradictory description, silly mistakes like typos in the title or listing in the wrong category, and just plain bad luck. It's probably worth relisting, and if similar items have sold successfully, check the completed items listings and see if the other sellers did anything differently to you.grimelda wrote:I listed a never worn size 18 jacket on Ebay and got no bids and only one watcher. One of my most successful sales was a large size gent's dinner suit ( I think it was about 56" chest and 48" waist or something) which I bought for £3 and sold on eBay for £62.0 -
I'm a size 10 but discovered plus sizes by accident when selling stuff that didn't sell at the school jumble sale (couldn't get 30p for size 18 dress, sold for £18 on ebay). Needs to be quality but it's keeping me smiling for now!:T0

so i guess you are selling at buyitnow prices, if they are going that fast maybe you'd make more at auction?....0 -
I also specialise in plus sizes and have to confirm that they do sell like hot cakes.
The fact is that larger ladies don't like shopping in shops.
I have an established customer base of larger ladies, including many overseas customers.

Thanks Contains Mild Peril. It cost me £40 on Oxford St and I had it listed at £10 starting price so maybe that's why. I never wore it but there weren't any tags on it.
I don't think I'll list it again, as it has a fur collar and this really isn't the right time of year!
