Therefore, since muscular/skeletal and mental health conditions statistically have the greatest chance of securing DLA, your best bet is to concentrate on these areas and get a firm diagnosis for your osteoporosis.

The likelihood of being awarded DLA for your asthma appears to be extremely low despite your encyclopaedic knowledge of the appeals system and your evident tenacity.

You'd have to have very severe osteoporosis for it to affect you enough to get DLA. My husband has it - also steroid induced - and despite having lost 6 inches in height it's effects still wouldn't be acceptable for DLA purposes.

I have to say as well that he has emphysema (lung function less than 20%) with an asthma component and he can still cook himself a proper meal if it isn't too complicated and he can take his time.
  • just an update:

i havent got osteoperosis bone density scan showed good bone strengh so doc is investigating other "possible causes" of the pain i'm having in most of my joints, i have collected my evidence to submit with my claim ,3 referances, consultants medical report, ,lung function test results, i also passed the 15 point income support medical in wich have requested the examiners report "kinda unusual as i have passed not failed i know but still it is evidence of some sort i'd say and this is what im waiting on to send the form in" i have made a diary of my daily life from the last 6 weeks, form is signed by consultant and the dla should contact her as i have nominated her if they need to contact her ragarding the medical form. fingers crossed.

may i ask what happens if the task of him prepareing a main meal gets complicated for any simple reason.

if your answer is i take over for him then you should be reconsidering your answer in the dla form to no.

The DLA test is preparing and cooking a simple meal. It does not take into account what happens if things get complicated.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • I have had Asthma and Eczema for 40 years, since I was 3 weeks old.I can tell you there is one reason and one reason only why the vast majority of Asthmatics get NO help whatsoever and that is : There are so many of us now.Truth be knwon the NHS can't afford us and we are expendible.

It was very easy for people to claim benefits for a bad back which was no diagnosable and yet ASTHMA is diagnosable...It was/is a farce.
!!!!!! we don't even get free prescriptions. If someone has an under active Thyroid or over active one they get free prescriptions, the same goes for Diabetics ,so why Not Asthmatics.........Reason: too bloody many of us...........DISGRACEFUL..........

Just one last thing STEAM is good for Asthmatics ,it helps clear the lungs and airways.

Like others on here I had good friends who died young from complications with Asthma..
But hey Ive had arguements on here with idiots on here who say its "NOT life Threatening".........If we are very lucky we may get free prescriptions in 2080, but dont hold your breathe........
