    Rogue clampers WILL be curbed: After Mail pressure, minister pledges to end 'legalised mugging'

    Cowboy wheel clampers who prey on motorists are to face an unprecedented crackdown.
    Following pressure led by the Daily Mail, the Government has pledged to take steps to end 'legalised mugging' of drivers parked on private land.
    Home Office Minister Alan Campbell said legislation to be unveiled this autumn would:

    • Limit the size of penalties handed out by clamping firms
    • Set up a fair and effective appeals process
    • Introduce a compulsory licensing scheme for all clampers
    • Regulate towing practices so vehicles cannot be removed unless they pose a danger
    • Curb incentives for firms to clamp as many cars as possible.

    All bow down to the great Daily Mail!!!

    Bit full of themselves, and I'm sure it's not solely down to the Daily Mail :rolleyes:

    Well BPA lets have you logging in so I can tell you about one of your members issuing a 'ticket' without stating the exact location of the parked vehicle or the reason for it. According to your code:
    36C vii) The reason why the Parking Ticket has been
    issued;
    viii) The detailed location of the vehicle, such as a
    car park name and/or a textual description,
    e.g.“outside house nn”,“adjacent to” building
    number or name;
    So the PPC already broke the code in the way they issued the ticket!!!!!!!!!!
  • I had to drive 10 hours to Newquay, Cornwall to tell my sister devastating news of my father's health. I parked overnight in a private car park with a permit lasting till 8am the next morning. Due to exhaustion and stress I slept through my alarm, arriving at my car at 8.30am. A parking ticket had been placed on my car already. I sent a heart felt letter explaining my circumstances and explaining I simply cannot afford the £65 fine. To this I received a templated standard letter explaining that I have to pay the fine within 7 days or else it becomes an £85 fine and also threatening me with debt recovery agency. I was heartbroken that someone could be so ignorant to another persons misfortune. I wrote then another letter in which I used the Martin's Money Expert template to reiterate my circumstances at present and also that this fine is disproportionate! Received nothing and a month later I have received a letter from a debt recovery agency (another private firm) asking for £131 within 7 days or legal action will be brought against me! I know that this parking firm received both my letters as I also emailed the copies at the same time to ensure this. I am 25 years old and am having to cope with not only an extremely ill father but the stress of buying a house in todays climate. Please can somebody help me? I don't know where to turn to...

    No-one seems to have answered this, apologies if I have missed an answer.

    I could charge for use of the car park, I could install a barrier, I could do other things as well but that fact is people use this lazy unenforceable option.
