They come in two types, proper stickers, with sticky stuff on the back. Or magnetic ones which you can put on and take off as you please, chose the latter type as I think cars running around in the UK with their GB stickers still on look silly to say the least.

Remember if your car has the blue stripe on the left of the numberplate with the EU flag in it, you don't need the stickers when driving in an EU country.

I dont know exactly everything you need but I do believe ALL the occupants of the car need to have a Hi Vis vest in case of breakdown.

Only found that out myself recently

No but it's still a good idea, and they must be in the car not in the boot or where you have to get out of the car to get them.

You can get also GB stickers from larger Tesco supermarkets. (Don't know if other supermarkets also do them, but have definitely seen them in Tesco)

Also don't forget beam benders for your headlights.

You should look at Breakdown/Recovery cover. If you take it with a reputable company,AA RAC or such like they will tell you what you need.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Tesco, 97p for a GB Sticker.

They also sell 4 packs of hi-vis jackets branded from the AA. I think they are £8 at the moment but earlier in the year were down to £4.

We got a pack in Halfords that included stickers to put on your lights so that they're not glaring into the oncoming traffic at night. Think you have to have spare bulbs and a red triangle in France.
