I stayed in Torre del Mar a couple of years ago. I can't recommend any villas as we stayed in a hotel (The Proamar). It's a mix of holiday resort/working town and is popular with the Germans. However, there are the odd few English bars. It has a lovely long promenade which stretches all the way to Caleta de Velez, which would be perfect for the wheelchair. Caleta de Velez is more of a purpose built holiday area but there are some gorgeous villas there - dread to think of the price though!! We liked it there and as long as you don't feel the need to be surrounded by fellow Brits then I would recommend. We would certainly stay there again."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. Hi,
Fuengirola is a nice place and very flat with 7km of beach and plenty of bars and restaurants.
Benalmadena is also very nice but hilly going inland. The port is lovely with lots going on and again another nice walk along the prom with restaurants a plenty.
In both spots there are plenty of English about but also if you like to look around, still very Spanish in many areas away from the sea front.
There is also the train here from Malaga to Fuengirola stopping at many spots along the way which would be a nice change for you with a wheel chair as you would be easily able to access into Malaga for a nice look around- and not many Brits! The train is very regular and costs very little.
Regarding villas you could check out the usual places such as www.holidaylettings.co.uk or www.ownersdirect.co.uk and if you find anything let me know and will tell you what the area is like.
Best priced villas will be away from the tourist area, however will still be in pockets of urbanisations which will have their own range of bars and restaurants.
Remember to negotiate for a villa against the price you see as times are tough and people will move on price.0 -
It's me again! This is a website for Torre del Mar that I found pretty useful, plus a nice photo gallery. http://www.absoluteaxarquia.com/areas/torredelmar.html"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Thanks for that,i am now def considering the villa in Caleta. We will go to Torre most nights i would think(walking) and am just wondering about the entertainment etc for the kids in both places.Last year in Nerja the Feria was on but didnt really see much else for the kids(prob because we in a villa on the edge) the walk was a nightmare!!!

Erm...in early October, it'll be too cold to use the pool! From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Hi again mrscb. It is quite a long walk between Torre del Mar and Caleta de Velez, more so when you have to do it both ways. There is, incidentally, a lovely marina at Caleta with one or two restaurants there also. I really don't remember much in the way of entertainment when we were there. Just bar based music nights etc. Hope you enjoy."If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
