Phoning/texting Hong Kong
I will be phoning/texting my partner who is working in Hong Kong over the next few months. It will be calls to a mobile only (no landline in the flat). Does anyone know who is offering the best deal for UK mobile to overseas mobile?
Thanks
Thanks

For texting send him/her a UK payg sim card, bit of a pain, but wont cost u to text. If partner is on a o2 plan, any roaming texts are classed as 4 texts out of tariff allowanceANURADHA KOIRALA ??? go on throw it in google.0

Thanks McHale - she already has an O2 contract, so although it costs me nothing, it costs her a lot to receive texts and make/receive calls. She has therefore bought a local SIM card and she can call my landline for peanuts. I can send texts for 10p with my O2 International package, but I was wondering whether there was anything better out there.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Your partner shouldn't pay to receive texts on the o2 number, maybe clarify with cs0

No, you are correct of course. It doesn't - but if she wants to reply it does cost her. Thanks for clarifying.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Calls to Hong Kong mobiles & landlines are 1p per min with 18185 -- and no doubt similar prices with other over-ride providers. Or what about Skype, if she has her laptop with her? Lots of people in China use Skype...0

Thanks. Can I use the 18185 from my mobile? It is my mobile I will be calling from more than my landline (Mon-Fri anyway).
It's difficult during the week as we both work and the time difference makes it tricky to speak anyway.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

I'd suggest Skype and Skype out, call them on a hong kong number using skype out and get them to log onto their computer if you want to talk at any length0

If your calling from your mobile you could use their 020 access number out of any inclusive minutes, calls would cost 4p connection and 2p a minute.
