When forwarding postage proof, should I make a photocopy?

My buyer  has said they haven't received their item, I'm pretty sure they are porking it!

I have the proof, and have said I will forward it, but I've not dealt with this before, so should I take a photocopy, and do I send them the original?

What process will the buyer go through to claim too? Is it Royal Mail that refund, or me???

Thanks

You will need to refund the buyer & you will need to make a claim with the Royal Mail. Its not down to the buyer to do it.
Royal Mail dont accept something is lost until 15 working days, although I doubt your buyer will wait that long before making a claim via paypal.

as said above by kprigg its your responsability to make a claim for a lost item. If the buyer makes a paypal claim for non receipt and you cant prove hes received it (not that youve sent it) then they will refund him and its for you get your money back from r.m

As has been said as the seller you are responsible for getting the item to the buyer. If they claim through paypal they will be refunded as you cannot prove delivery. You will also more than likely get neged from your buyer for forcing them to go via paypal

You should therefore refund your buyer and make the claim to RM yourself. Proof of posting is that proof of posting (clue in the name) not proof of receipt so how do you know your buyer is lieing?
  • Don't bother forwarding it- you'll waste more money and time sending it. If you want to, (but there's not much point) then it might be a idea to scan and email it to the buyer. :)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I know the buyer is lying as it took them a fortnight to pay, (clearly leaving it to see if it would 'go away' and I then sent a message saying it was posted, and it has then taken them about a month to actually email me to ask when it was posted! I can tell from their very lame responses to my emails that they are completely fibbing.

I am extremely reluctant to refund but accept I have to.
The buyer has asked me to forward postage proof, so maybe I should do that, and see if they research enough to realise its me that makes the claim?

Do I forward the original or a copy? I don't have a scanner.

Copy then- just in case royal mail won't accept a copy and you do have to claim.

I might be wrong here, but from what you are saying if it has been over a month then they may be out of time to put in a paypal claim. I think you only get 45 days to put a claim in.

I always do my postage thru Paypal, so the buyer gets an automatic email to say it's been posted .

though some people still email asking where the packet is, so I scan in the Proof Of Postage that paypal automatically spits out of the printer, scan it in and email it to them. That usually shuts them up...

Item was sold just over 5 weeks ago, buyer paid nearly 4 weeks ago, and it was sent the next day, have just checked on paypal and it is 45days, but its a while from that just yet, shame I can't just hang on. ;)

I will photocopy it at work then and will see what happens!
    Thanks all
