Suspended for inappropriate internet usage at work

If you have been doing two people's work it will presumably cause the company hardship to have you suspended for two weeks. It sounds like there might be more to it than just the Internet usage. Is your job in any danger of becoming redundant, do you know?
I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Being connected to the company's intranet would not be counted in the same way as moving to an internet connection.0

,,,,, i'm totally hazy on all that is going on
I would really find out very quickly if I were you!
Since you are the first I feel they may make your ordeal not officially public, but every one will know. You are already not at your desk and people will ask questions. This will keep the other workers in fear, cement the new policy and stop the internet abuse.
It may be a good time to update that CV in your two weeks - however I could also be wrong0 -

Not as far as i know, but it does feel like there is more to it. I'm the only person trained to do my job and i work alone, which probably added to the monotony and hence the internet, so it would be odd for them to make me redundant but i just don't know.
all seems so serious for being online to me0 -
Is there anything in your contract or in the company's policies and procedures about personal internet use?
Don't think there's been one company I've worked for that hasn't had it in their wordings somewhereEven if your work has been good it doesn't mean you haven't breached something.

They have told me no-one is to know and that i shouldn't tell anyone either. But the people in my office know and they will tell others i suppose.
Thats another point, how will this look for future employers
I love my job and i do it well but this hardly reflects any of that and i have never been in any kind of trouble in the past but again this is a bad thing to have on record0 -

Thats just it i know i must have but i have no idea what. I realise there must be policies now but i was never made aware of them and i have never had any issues in the past.0 -
You've signed your contract to say you'll comply with the companies policies and procedures - it was up to you to read them (usually a paper copy from HR or digital copies on the Intranet) even if they've only recently monitored your useage they can dismiss you on this.0

It is starting to look more and more underhand. You'd think if they wanted to prevent other people using Internet in works time they would want to "make an example" of you, not hush it all up.
Are you in a Union? How big is your company? Is your immediate line manager involved in this?I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Company is big, line manager is involved.
I'm not in a union.
I'm screwed amnt i?
would my best bet be to look for another job starting now?0
