  • Yes I got done this week, hsbc called to ask if I used my debit card the day before to top up £20 and £10 within mins to top up 02 , I have never ever used 02 and completly shocked me because I thought I was careful with my card. Card was cancelled and new one sent. Just waiting for relelevent bits and bobs so I can get my money back.

  • I have just received my credit card statement and there is £15 added for O2 Prepay. I have cancelled my card and started the process to claim it back. However, I also called O2 who said they couldn't do anything about it and couldn't help me.

It's worrying that the O2 is clearly not concerned about this, whatever they say, otherwise they would do more security checks to top up as the other providers do.

They aren't worried cos they're receiving £15 without cost. But they should be worried about their reputation, and they're not

that is exactly what my dh has just said! I tell you one thing for sure O2 wont be getting my business in the future as they dont seem to give two hoots. Sure it won't make them go under but will make me feel a lot better!

    Hi all,

I have just checked my Smile online account today and seen that i was charged £27.06 from 02 (UK( LTD on the 25/05/2010. I logged onto 02 to check my bill and there was no payment asked by them that date (normal monthly charges on 4/5/10 and 3/6/10). They told me they had no record of this and to contact my bank, so after checking the internet and finding this forum about 02 fraud scams, i rang Smile (totally rude customer services man) who said to dispute it via my online account (which ive just done) and wait for a reply. Because this money was taken from my account i didnt have enough money to pay a direct debit taken on the same day, therefore i got charged £30, which Smile said i should dispute once they check if the £27.06 is fraud. This charge has resulted in me being charged debit interest £3.94 on 20/06/10 which meant i went overdrawn by £1.58 today, andso i may have missed other direct debits that that £27.06 and £30 would have covered. Really stressed, annoyed and pregnant... not a good combination, so any further advice would be great, and il also post any updates as they come (will be checking for a reply to my dispute everyday so hope it comes soon).

I have just logged back into my Smile account and i have had another £30 charge today, though i havent received a secure message from them yet with what it was for, which seems very unproffesional. I hope they find the initial £27.06 was fraud as i've been charged £60 now because that money was stolen!! Just wish id noticed it sooner, not that it would have helped :(
  • I had a secure messsage this morning from smile asking me to contact them about the disputed charge, so i gave them a call and explained that i didnt recognise the payment and they said they see this quite alot with fake mobile company payments and will refund the £27.06 and the £30 charge i got because that money wasnt in my account. They have also cancelled my card and will be sending me a new one, but ill forever check my account with a fine tooth comb after this, i cant believe how stressful it was, but thankfully its all been resolved and Smile were great today.
  • Like many others on here I too have had this issue recently, two payments one to O2 prepay for £20.00 and another £20.00 to Talk mobile LTD
and the same answer from O2 when i contacted them that everyone else has had on here.

The only way I see to make O2 get this sorted is for them to lose money so the next time your contract is up for renewing go with another company. They dont deserve my custom i want a company that will listen to my complaints not fob me off and do nothing about it.

My contract is up for renewal in August I WONT be renweing with O2, maybe if all of us do the same they'll get the message and do something about this crap.
