Time wrong on parking ticket

Hi, two days before my wedding, I went to pick up my suits in town and parked in a 30 minute ticketted bay. I bought a ticket which ended at 10.05. My receipt from the suit shop shows that I paid at 10.08. It is a 2 minute walk (about 60 metres away) back to the car.

I got to my car in the rain, put the seven suits in the boot, noticed the ticket and noticed that the current time was 10.12 on my watch, mobile and in the car.

My dispute is that the ticket fine says that it was issued at 10.18. It could not have been. I sent a letter stating that the time was incorrect, and could I have a ticket with the real time on it. My reply was that the ticket warden synchronises their watch before every shift with the speaking clock and checks the time on the machine before issuing any ticket.

In my letter, I asked them to check the cctv and provide me with the correct time. The reply gave me a demeaning message about even if it is a minute over, the ticket is valid. The thing is, the time is wrong, and my quality swiss timepiece, cleaned every two years and never missed a second, synchronised with the speaking clock, stated a different time.

This is outside the police station and courts in a busy town, in a well known area (not back street etc etc), cctv is very prominent.

Due to my honeymoon, I now have 6 days to pay, which I am more than willing to do, but I want a ticket with the correct time on it.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thank you.

If you scan in the ticket that would help the peeps on here.

Is it a ticket from a council or police or a private company?
I all have learnt is from others on many sites.
    Seek legal help if unsure.
Dont pay Private Parking tickets - they are mere invoices.

It's an NCP ticket on behalf of the council.
I had to appeal to the council, but it has NCP on the issuing.

The only dispute is the time.
I've never recieved a ticket before.

I will try and scan/copy the ticket when home.

I'll bring the ticket into work tomorrow, thanks.
  • Hi. Unfortunatley, because the CEO handsets are sychronised centrally and they cannot fiddle the times because of this, they will be very unlikely to cancel on a disputed time discrepancy. They often give a observation period after ticket expiry to allow for this kind of time difference. So if you got an observation period after the expiry time, it is unlikely that they will cancel. As annoying as it is, to admit to one time discrepancy with their equipment would open the floodgates for hundreds of incorrectly issued tickets. Ask to see the times of the CEO photos (compare the times with those of the hand held device to make sure they match up), and ask what the allowed observation time for where you were parked is (to make sure you got the allowed amount of time).

    Thanks for the reply.
So the handset actually takes a digital picture?
I didn't know that, although I was asking for CCTV, so maybe they should have offered this...
