Bails, your life sounds dreamy! I think it's lovely that you're doing your travelling with your OH and that proposal sounds amazing! Are you seriously wedding planning from Nepal?!
I love looking at photos too! In fact I bought 3 photo frames at the weekend. I feel like I don't have enough photos of growing up and even my uni days (before digital - yikes!) and even now people take more photos, but don't necessarily print them.
It's a beautiful morning down here, I'm feeling very positive about the week ahead! Yay for 2 day week, Tete! Anyone else got exciting plans?LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
That's interesting - I emailed lots of friends for tips who'd got married recently and one that came back was 'don't bother with photos, you never look at them again'.
I was very surprised this person said this, and to me, the photos are one of the most important parts of the day (except the reason you're actually there of course!). Glad you still enjoy yours Clearmydebts. And a baby to save for, how exciting :j- when are you due?
Thanks for the wedding breakdown Dinah, v helpful. I swing between having what we really want and my sensible MSE head that says 'how much?!' when I look at stuff :rotfl: I'm in the process of applying for jobs back home so if I could get something lined up and know that one of us has a regular salary (OH is experimenting with selling his sculptures when we get back, which I fully support) to come back to, I might feel better about spending more, knowing I can clear any debt quickly. So bizarre, never been in debt in my life and am recently racking it up :rotfl: in a sensible way of course!
Off to catch up on the thread.
Ooh, I live in Bath!! Bizarrely, I couldn't quite get used to liking it for ages as I wanted to move to Scotland (and then met OH) but now I appreciate what a nice place it is (still want a place in Scotland though)
Seems to be lots of good news around here, that's what we like! :T
Good morning all!
Bails - I defo think photos are so important. Before I got pregnant myself and OH used to love pouring a glass of wine and sit down and look at the album. Now it's an orange juice!!! One of my friends didn't get a professional photographer and got one of their friends instead. No-one has ever seen the album and we reckon the photos are rubbish as one of my friends saw the fella getting sick in the toilets at 10pm that night so he must have been wasted.
The baby is due at the end of Feb so lots of time for baby savings! The plan is for me to take 6 months off and then go back and do a 3 day week instead of full-time. I am trying to negotiate doing 2 long days & fill the extra hours in over the evening to save on a childminder. I want to be with my baby as much as I can but I also want to work as I really like the work I do. But I reckon if I can spend 5 days out of 7 with the baby that is a good compromise
Why is it you want to move to Scotland? I lived there for 5 years and the winters are very harsh but I know what it is like to have a dream. Mine is to move outside Barcelona in about 5 years time and I can't explain why other than I love the place and need to move there!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Thinking of Spain. That is where OH would like to go on holiday next year or Athens (we did an island for honeymoon) or Turkey.
Any suggestions - We might be booking late as bonus does not come till July.0 -

Glad your back is feeling better Poolie
If your OH would like to go to Spain then you should look into going there. We went to the island of Mallorca in July and it was fabulous. We didn't go to the tacky places! We stayed in Port Soller and it was lovely. This is the link to the hotel:

I am obviously a huge fan of Barcelona and Sitges if you have never been. We stayed here in January:

Lol - I try to go to Barcelona at least once a year as it is my fave place in the world!

Ooh let me wade in with my Spain comments! I LOVE Barca too CMD, love the atmosphere, dying to take OH there soon.
But Poolie of you fancy somewhere different I'd thoroughly recommend Andalucia. I lived in Sevilla for a few months a couple of years back and did a bit of travelling about - there's loads to see, you could combine a few nights in Sevilla with a few in Granada, maybe a night in Cordoba and one in Ronda ... go to the sherry makers in Jerez or the Picasso museum in Malaga, Cadiz is a lovely beach town, though with a lot of cruise ship people, and there are lots of lovely beaches that the foreign tourists don't know about ... I don't really know what you want from a holiday though, maybe I'm being a bit over-active for you! Love Andalucia though - it's what I see as the 'real' Spain.
ETA - and you can go whale and dolphin spotting off Gibraltar! Best thing ever!!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
We will more than likely want pool, beach and the occassional trip out. I will need to see over the next few months. First things first - CLEAR THOSE DEBTS!0

You will have plenty of time to book a flight to Spain and plan where you want to go. That's the joy of going to Europe- there isn't as much forward planning required that is for further flung places!!!Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
