I have been quoted £148.50 for three people for just the eurostar tickets to Brussels, which I thought was pretty cheap. I now need to find train tickets for 3 people from Bristol to London for as cheap as poss! We found some last night for about £150 I think but then a mate of ours has said he always pays about £20 for a train ticket to London so I'm trying to find these mystical cheap tickets!

Morning everyone,
I am feeling absolutly awful today. OHs brother has been coughing and sneezing all week and i think hes passed his germs on to me. I dont get ill very often but when i do it really hits me so feeling pretty sorry for myself!!
On the plus side OH got paid today and i have managed some more payments to the credit card and house moving fund. Credit card will hopefully be under £2700 within a week!
All this car talk fills me with fear! OH and i still havent decided what to do about the car situation. MOT next month - wont pass and wont be worth it (considering how much we paid for it) to pay for it to get through.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Dinah - Was that the Banqueting House? Would be so lovely in Autumn! Could cosey up near the fire at night. I like the fact none of those houses have TVs too.
Yep thats the one. Gibside is stunning as well. I don't get the whole tvs in holdiay cottages thing, you've gone away to spend quality time together, not sit on a different sofa - could have stayed at home to do that! That sounds fab! Enjoy your celebratory cookie
Dinah, as always it sounds like you have SO much to think about!
OH's car has gone bye-byes too, so looks like we'll be trawling the small ads this weekend! However, it was an experiment (a £1000 LPG A4) that paid off as he's saved more than £1000 on fuel in the year or so he's had it. Now I've just got to try and stand in the way of him scrapping it for a brand new Golf GTI! He wishes! But seriously I think it will be a 4/5 year old Golf TDI or something...
All the Bruges deals sound good too, although I'd definitely be disappointed if I didn't see any midgets! Or are they dwarves... :rotfl:
ETA: I love the idea of giving Bluey a makeover Tete! When is it you start your course again, ladies?
Start the course on Wednesday - getting close!
Golf TDi is one of the ones in my spreadsheet actually! Coming up great on insurance, but not so great on diesel costs compared to some of the others in my sheet. Still, lots of figures to go, road tax, depreciation etc.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I just went on the 'book online' bit on the Eurostar website. You can't go from London to Bruges though, you have to go to Brussels. But from what I've read the trains go every half hour from Brussels to Bruges and you can just buy the tickets when you arrive at Brussels.Tete_en_l'Air wrote: »Sounds like you got the best deal on the Eurostar to me Zig, I don't think they sell for any less than about £55. You might be a bit early for tickets to London for December, you need to be 12 weeks in advance I think ... so maybe this is the right time? Not sure!
I have managed to find a few quotes for train tickets but it is probably a few weeks early! Cheapest so far is £107.60...Looks like there's going to be a mini MSE meet in Bruges come Dec!

Oh I love this story and the successes so far!
My fiancee and I got engaged on Valentine's Day this year and then started a big campaign to get debt free and pay for our own wedding! The first 6 months has been really tough, not going out and saying no to any extra spending, working all the hours we can but I know it will be worth it!
We started by putting our mortgage on an interest only basis for 12 months (I know it probably not the most advisable thing to do) and we put the £250 we would have spent straight into our wedding savings fund. I also have a second job in a pub and put the £168 a month from that straight into the fund too. H2B (husband to be) does extra private building jobs in the evenings and weekends and puts any of that money in their too.
I had a result the other day from reclaiming bank charges and got £810 back!!!
We have so far saved £2000 (some of the monies we had to spend on some other debts first) and have a target of £7500. H2B is selling his car next week and getting a company van instead, so we hope that about £2500 from that will go straight into the fund = only £3000 to go and a year to do it in!!!!
Also have a loan which we pay £300 a month on and started to try to claim the PPI back on but this has now gone to the ombudsman, so if that is successful then the loan will be paid off by the time the wedding comes along (August 2010) - hopefully debt free newlyweds (apart from the mortgage)!!!!!
Wish me luck!
