I agree with everyone else, might be an idea to hand the budgets over to NIM for a month or so - more than anything to just take the pressure off you a bit.
Maybe you could ease up money somewhere? A few £10s taken off of something (like maybe NIM missing 1 lads night out a month?) and added to another fund make might a lot of difference (peace of mind wise) My Grandpa always told me when you're budgeting to add an extra £10 because 'you can never be too sure!'

Dinah and Tete - Weird question coming up! You live near Durham, right? I'm looking at holiday cottages for my parents just wondered if West Auckland is a nice area? Found a cottage for them, just wondering about the area!

I don't want to pressure him though really, when he has the degree coming up. Urgh, not a day for decisions.

He only spends about £40 at most with them a month, I spend more than that on bits for the new house (not nessisarily things like toasters, but things like paintings and baking pots). To be fair our spends do balance out pretty equally. We do need to find another £10-£15 a month for the cat fund though.

Can't say I've ever had call to go to West Auckland, I can ask my dad tonight, but as far as I'm aware its a pit village, so not somewhere I'd really reccomend for a holiday.

Sent the book. £2.14. And its really old so I bet they'll complain!

A pit village? Eek! The cottage looked really pretty too- this one. The search continues!

I think you and NIM might need to sit down and talk it over about budgets ect? I get where you're coming from about the OU course, but I'm sure NIM would just be more than happy to help? Even just a week with the budgets might make him understand the kind of worries you have with them.

For the £10-15 for the kitty - seeing how you're back on STP couldn't you make that the monthly goal for your earnings? Tracks are 3p right? That's only 250 each for you and NIM to do, which is only about 10tracks a day which makes it sound less daunting!

    Afternoon,

Feeling not so good today, cold is not so bad but went to the party for the launch of a new music channel last night and had numerous free cocktails and champagne. Very MSE but feeling it now. Looking forward to cuddling up in bed tonight, the weather is awful here as well.

Sounds like it is all stressing you out Dinah. It is really hard when you are working hard towards something but is taking so much of your time up. I hope that when you do get the dream home that you can relax a bit.

I don't think men in general (not all men) get the money obsession as much. My OH has never been in debt and he doesn't budget or anything and since he started his training he has so much money left over at the end of the month as well! I spend all my time budgeting and end up with nothing, ah well that is life i guess.

    That cottage looks lovely Cinny!

Its a really difficult one with the budgets - maybe NIM could just get more actively involved rather than just taking over the budgets?

Incidently how is the kitty? Is the new diet helping her? Its very fustrating about it costing so much for all her food, i know how you feel there because our cat has to have all the special diet food aswell - works out very expensive.

She seems to be doing well on the new diet. Has become a right escape artist. Twice at the weekend.

Nah shes too cute. NIM wants kittens though. This is an appaulingly dense question I'm sure, but why do people stop their cats having kittens, is there a medical reason for it?
