And yes, I am paying maintenance - around £1000 per month - money for the kids and my half of the mortgage, insurance, etc. This represents about 40% of my net salary.
So from a financial point of view, she is in a pretty good position. I have been thinking about scaling this back, but I don't want to put them in a difficult position (house is on the market and has been for over a year, but present climate etc etc).

In England, I believe she would get rather less than this, but do check the figures in Scotland.
For those who believe the police are always out to get you, it is possible to have an informal chat (like if this happened where would you be) without incriminating yourself and others.
Ok in one situation I know the "culprit" ended up with a prison sentence but only because the people he hurt had an informal discussion over several months and eventually believed that if they made a formal complaint something would be done about it.
My wife says this but I never did anything is not the same as I beat her but did not think it was wrong. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Yep you are suffering due to your own actions, You hit a child, You suffer the consequences, You hurt her wrist, Same thing. Hope you get charged with ABH, And your children never have to see you again. Monster.0

I don't think either of those incidents could be reported as ABH now. The incident with her wrist was three years ago, so unless you've locked her up in the cellar since then she has had plenty of time to report it since and with yur sons punishment, that was aghree between you and again is not recent.
I think it's quite normal for people to get overexcited and threaten to involve the plice. The Police get a lot of calls of this type and even if you had commited ABH three years ago, quite frankly, how are they going to investigate it now...?
She needs someone, preferably her own solicitor to sit her down and make her listen to sense. Whether a smack hurts a child or not, depriving them of their father and brain washing them with such nonsense does, please push for regular contact. Otherwise you will regret it in the future.0 -

The OP has asked for people's help. I wouldn't call this helpful. Nasty and uncalled for yes, helpful no.Avon Representative October 2010: C16: £276 :T C17: £297 :j0 -
