  • I've just booked florist!

Still need to choose and order stationery! Not sure why, but I'm finding that the most difficult decision!!

My wedding is 28th Aug by the way :)

I'm feeling so un-organised compared to you ladies. I'm going to get our invitations printed and made up this weekend when I pop home, I've broken my printer after having it for 3 years!!! the moment I really need it, it decides to give up the ghost, so I'm having to use my parents.

Still need to get suit, my birdcage veil (thinking of making it myself though), decide what I'm having as a bouquet, rings and the most daunting task of all... shoe shopping.

I'm looking forward to the tasting session we're going to have come summer at Malmaison so we can decide what food we're having for the wedding breakfast. They use all seasonal ingredients so there would be no point deciding from their current menu! Also need to meet with the wedding co-ordinator at the reception venue and discuss decorations, I'm wanting bunting and it's gonna take hundreds of yards to decorate it all, need to get the sewing machine out soon!!

    Hi girls!

Its been agggeeees since I last posted but since then I have been a little more organised and have finally finished the day invites and sent them out. We are sending the evening ones in a week or so (better finish making them then!)

I have finally also ordered the bridesmaid dresses which are all custom made so fingers crossed they will fit! I did add an inch or two here and there so at least they wont be too small and if they are big we can have them altered :)

Have also been looking into suit hire, its just a nightmare to get OH to commit to a time to go for a fitting as we both work about 28 hours a day lol.

Have also contacted a few make up artists. How do you choose?!! Some are really expensive and then one that looked really good was quite cheap in comparison but does that mean that they are rubbish?!! Im so stuck I dont know who to go for! Waiting for my friend to get details of the one she used as she looked stunning on her day.

    Still to do:
Cake - friends mum making but going round soon to discuss the options & get a quote
    Suits
Rings!!! although Ive chosen mine :)
Flowers - eeek! When do i need to do this by?
    My jewellery
    lingerie
    Hubby is sorting out honeymoon
    Musician for ceremony/wedding breakfast
    Hair dresser.
Flat shoes for later on when my feet are killing!
    hair accesories for flower girls
Videographer ( might get my aunt to just use a home video camera!!)

I also have this massive concern that with the warnings that this summer is going to be a scorcher and i will be wearing a massive dress that weighs about 2 stone, I might pass out from the heat!! Also I wanted my hair down as everyone comments how much nicer it looks than up, and hubby to be likes it down too, looks like im jus gona sweat to death on the day!

    Where's everyone else at?

So far my 'done' list is:

    Venue
    Notice of marriage
    Reception venue
    Dress & alterations
    Shoes
    Tiara
    Centerpieces
    Table decs
    Favours
    Invitations
    Flower girl dresses
    bridesmaid dresses
    table cameras
    cars
    chair covers
    toastmaster
    DJ
    cant think of anything else...

    Is there anything Ive forgotten?!!

Sarah I got a little concerned about the predicted heatwave but then it was pointed out to me that they also predicted a mild winter so not sure who to belive!!

I'd booked a make up artist but then cancelled, it was going to be £150 including trial and the day and I just thought I could spend that on really nice make up and facials in the run up to the wedding and have makeup to use after the wedding as well. My main concer was that she was going to charge £80 for the trial - what would have happened if I didn't like the makeup she did?? Sorry that's not really any answer to how you choose!!
    NSD -5/20
    Emergency funds - £84
    Loan payments - [STRIKE]48[/STRIKE]40

Looks like we are all making progress which is good as we only have four months to go!!! :D

    Done
    • THE Dress. I have paid for it in full and just need to book in for my alterations.
    • Accessories. I am borrowing a gorgeous vintage stlye bracelet off my MIL2B and think I will make myself some long sparkly or pearl earrings. As my dress is fairly sparkly I am thinking I probably won't bother with a necklace, or if I do it will be a very simple one.
    • Shoes. I fell in love with some Rachel Simpson shoes in the shop which were £150  but managed to find them for £51 on ebay!
    • Car. My lovely sister is paying for a 1930s Ford Tudor as our gift.
    • Photographer. Booked.
    • DJ. A friend of ours is DJing
    To Do
    • Buy my veil. I have already found one that I love but it is £250  so need to see if I can find it cheaper!)
    • Hair. Decide on hairstyle and book appointment (no clue at the moment if I'm wearing it up or down. Sarah - I'm with you on this one, will be hot enough with the huge dress so might go for it up). B
    • Then buy the hair accessory I love IF it goes with my hair do.
    • Flowers. I have an idea of what I want and as my dress is quite sparkly I think I will keep the flowers fairly simple.
    • Lingerie. Have an idea of what to get, although the dress shop said I could get away without wearing a bra (God knows how!) there is just no way!
    • Makeup. I'd like to get it prefessionally done but have no idea where to even start with this one...
    • Wedding Rings. We've picked our rings so just need to order them and pay for them now.
    • Flat Shoes. For later in the day.
    • Bridesmaid Dresses. My sisters and my Mum are coming down in the next few weeks to shop for them.
    • Groom's Suit. He has an idea of what he wants but I just need to make sure he gets his !!!! into gear!
    • Cake. We've decided on cupcakes and just need to try some out. Mmmmmm :)
    • Table Decoration. No clue what to do yet as I haven't officially decided on my colour scheme. Does everything really need to match???
    • Invites. We've sent Save the Date cards but need to get the official invites sorted. When are you all sending your invites out?
Actually looking at that list I still have a fair amount to do! I hope you are all doing ok. x

yer I still need to sort out lingerie but during the day I'm not wearing a bra, just knickers - which will actually be the first time Ive ever not worn a bra because now my dress has been altered it fits so perfectly and is very structured so no need for a bra. (trust me it's like scaffolding! I'm quite big chested so just goes to show what a dress can do!)

Im going to get something nice to slip into after though ;)

Have seen a cake I like but its about £450 - £500 but my friends mum is a cake maker so she is going to make it for less :D

We went suit shopping (with two kids in tow which was not a good idea!) and have decided on a style of jacket, colours etc. Did you know that Debenhams and Burtons have exactly the same suit catalogue, literally exactly the same photos and layout in each of their catalogues! But obv burtons is cheaper though. We're not sure where we are going yet as we are having problems trying to get a suit to fit our son as he will be 2 in July and although the child suits start at that age he is a bit on the small side and all the jackets swamp him.

have sent half the evening invites out, then ran out of invitations as our guest list keeps growing! oops. better get off here and make some more ay!

    Hi All

I am an August bride! Been with other half for 11 years- known each other since we were 14 and thought we would finally tie the knot! You can't rush these things, lol!

    So far we have...
    Given notice
Told everyone to save the date
    Booked church
Booked reception venue & welcome drinks
    Booked evening entertainment & buffet
    Booked car
    Got dress, veil & shoes
Booked hoop & dress in for alterations
    Got jewellery
    Got both wedding rings
Got bridesmaid jewellery & thank you gifts
Got cuff links for dh2b, best man & my dad
Got flower girl dresses & butterfly wands
Got flower girl thank you gifts
Got colouring in for all children to do in speeches
Got centre pieces & table confetti
Got favour bags, bubbles & name place tags
Got cake booked & made cake topper
Made all day and evening invites, to go out in two weeks
Set up wedding list- but not sure if will actually do it yet
Got all male suits booked & had 1st fitting (in laws are exceptionally tall)
    Got bridal suite booked
Got champagne, chocolates & candles etc for bridal suite
Think we have got a photographer- but not too sure yet
    Chosen song for first dance
Got cake boxes to send some to those that can't make it

    Need
Damn good underwear for the day
    Bridesmaid dresses (Ebay)
    Pageboy suits (Ebay)
    Balloons (Ebay) & need helium
    Flowers (Artifical- Ebay)
    Honeymoon?????
    Chocolate dragees
Chair covers- having a mare with these- need some advice please!!!
    Readings & hymns for church

And, I think, so far that is it. As for chair covers, I have been looking in to these and decided I would really like them- but they are v expensive and having 10 children to wedding, I think we would loose deposit when children spill something. So- our colours are red & white, and the venues chairs are the red banqueting type, so what are peoples thoughts on just a white organza sash around the red chair? I can't work out if this will look completley cheap & nasty or if it will work, has anyone ever seen just a sash on a chair with no cover?? What did you think?
