Good luck with the saving fund, am planning to do a social work masters myself next September so am attempting to reduce my debt, start saving as well as living my life without impactng too much. well done re the overtime its worth it in the end as long as you save it rather than spending it
Thanks! It sucks that there is little to no funding options for Post-grad degrees other than bank loans or saving yourself. I'm so lucky that my parents are letting me live here rent free initially because I wouldn't have been able to do it without them. They on the other hand are grateful that I am sorting this out myself and not relying on them to pay for it (unlike a lot of people I went to uni with).
I'm going to try and save still when I've finished paying for the Masters although maybe not quite as strictly so I have a bit more wiggle room in the finances, and try and pay all the overdraft off!
Overtime is paid straight into a separate bank account that I can't remember the pin to so only have online access to it. That way I don;t spend it because i like seeing all the positive numbers in there!
Wishing you luck with the saving, it's been a hard slog but I'm sure you'll get there!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Well panic over! Got my enrollment pack for uni today, started freaking out after reading it because it's a reality now! Anywho as the day has gone on i'm feeling a bit better about it all really. It should be good!
Worked all weekend and it almost killed me, but not as much as the 6 nights in a row i have starting tomorrow! 3 of those are overtime so a lot of extra cash coming my way!
Stuff on eBay is selling well. I'm thinking of buying a good pair of boots with the cash but I'm not sure.
Another no spend day today!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Is it a year long MA?
2 year long MSc part time. So I only have to be there one day a week and then 3 days a week at work gives me 3 days to get reading etc done!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

Well I've been working out what I'm going to do with my finances when the end of October rolls around and I have all my Masters accounted for.
I'm going to start driving lessons (it's the next big thing on the list of things I need to do, and it would make getting to and from work a hell of a lot easier). I've worked out that I can budget for driving lessons, travel to and from work/uni, mobile phone and some rent to the folks and still save £500 a month towards goodness knows what (a car maybe?)
The only debt hanging over my head then will be the student loan but I don't really have to worry about that really. Obviously once I get a car finances will look a bit different but I'm feeling good about things now.
Other than that, nothing much happening, working night 3 of 6 tonight and already feeling dead. Oh well, it has to be done!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

So I got £264 for 3 night shifts last week, £250 put straight into the virtual sealed pot (think this is turning into the christmas fund!) That being said I have been naughty this week, buying a few makeup bits and bobs and some dvd's etc. Overdraft is really being eaten into this month but only a week till pay day!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170
