Wasting your time there. He can argue, endlessly, and it appears to give him pleasure. But as for thinking, or stating an opinion. That's different. You'll never see him in the fun threads, because he is clearly out of his depth when it's just friendly banter.

you come onto the internet to make friends - you sad puppy.

you have to agree if you're in NE after a 25 year mortgage you've got to be a bit dim.

I also think you would have to agree that to have an interest only mortgage for 25yrs is more than a bit dim.

I come here to have fun, chew the fat, discuss things, learn stuff. And have made internet friends.

Why do you come here? I am fascinated to know - so a straigthforward honest answer would be interesting.

    Then allow me to rephrase.
Not for one minute, do you imagine, I am of the live now, pay later persuasion. So why exactly did you ask?

you're so interested in me - why?

you follow me around the forum picking on all my posts. we may have a different opinion on things so what.

just ignore me, restrain yourself from making comments - it will make you feel better and don't try and use me for therapy.

think the idea with those things was to get on the ladder at IO for a few years before prices got out of reach, then worry about getting onto a repayment vehicle at a later date

I have explained honestly why I come here, and that I regard some people on here as internet friends.

I am asking you a straightforward question - why do you come here? That's all, you can answer how you wish - but I think most people would say some sort of sensible reason as to why they post, and read on here.

    Can you?

    I give up.

Graham, even if you managed to find dates between which there was minimal HPI, it DOESN'T MATTER. You are still better off than someone who rented during the same period.

As I said, in order to get that over 25 years you have to make ludicrous assumptions.

But please, do it your way.

I'm feeling a little bad now, afterall, all my clutching at straws seems to have upset you.

However, may I ask what you are going on about rent for? Did I ever say it was more or less expensive than renting? I don't think I actually did.

So please don't accuse me of clutching at straws.

I admit I have chosen 2 pieces of data to make my point. Therefore, as I can see you are a little upset by this, I will agree that if we simply ignore those parts of data and only use the data which proves you correct in what you said, then you are indeed, funnily enough, correct.

But please don't accuse me of cherry picking data.

As for assumptions, are you guaranteeing me that we will not hit £100,000 at any time over say the next decade? Is that not you making assumptions?

So please don't accuse me of making assumptions when making your own.

i have no idea and wouldn't be really bothered to neither ask or find out.
it's not for me to make assumptions about something i'm not remotely interested in.

Then I will repeat the question. Why on earth did you ask?
