18866 confusion

joined 18866 and have made lots of savings my daughters 2 hour calls to a friends landline are free and my twice daily call to hubby is now 12p a minute. however, i remember giving mobile phone number at time so i could also access them while using mobile and still receive discounted calls, but, this never seems to happen as i never get through, is it something i am doing wrong?

  • Are you dialing 18866 from your mobile?

    This doesn't work.

You need to dial freephone or local rate number - details on their web site

  • I use my home phone line to dial in to work. This is a local number but I wondered what the charges would be on 18866.

Anyone got an answer to this? :-/

If you are with BT any UK call will be 0p per minute with a 1p connection, so 1p is the answer.

Careful here. 18866.com is specially good if you're on an Orange tariff. This is because Orange don't tariff 0800/0808 numbers. The other mobile networks do. Other mobile network users can benefit if they use their bundled minutes for calling international numbers via 18866. There is usually a benefit in calling other UK mobile networks using 18866, ie Mon to Fri 12ppm and Sat/Sun 3ppm. But it absolutely depends on what tariff you are on.

Not sure about that but dialling TO a mobile from a BT landline is cheaper on 1899.

1899 charge 10p/minute during the week and 2p/minute at weekends (18866 charge 12p/minute and 3p/minute respectively).
