Hi morwenna, any idea where I can purchase them from? do places like Wilkinsons sell them?
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

My DS2 has just moved into an apartment on a temporary basis, there is a musty smell which seems to be coming from the cupboard housing the water tank. I have told him to leave the door to the cupboard and a small window open whilst he is out and also to put a shallow dish with borax in to try and absorb the smell, any other ideas?????? Next time I go over I will take my Dyson and give the cupboard a clear out, just hope there are no minging socks or something worse behind the water tank!!!!
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
  • Vinegar is good at absorbing smells hope you manage to get it sorted.

Bicarbinate of soda is used for absorbing smells and isn't hazardous like borax is.

Has he checked for a leak in the cupboard?

As far as I could see there was not leak, just a lot of dust, mind you I did not poke my head right into the cupboard, just my nose was enough!! I will get him to take all his stuff out and have a look at the back of the tank, see if he can see what is going on. The tank is stood on the floor and no signs of rust marks on the stone floor.......Oh I wonder if thats the problem, hot tank - cold floor condensation......??? Had I known there was a problem I would have gone prepared with dyson, vinegar etc......I am hoping it was just from the cupboard not being opened, but we will know soon......

Could be. We get a lot of condensation on the cold water pipe in the kitchen.
  • The clothes in the cupboards in the littlest room always smell musty. I dont overfill the draws and they're not pushed right up against the walls, so the air can circulate. I open the window as often as I can, and often have the dehumidifier on, although it never gets much water at all.
What can I do to stop it?

  • Have you tried old fashioned lavender bags? They can help

  • Make sure everything is bone dry before it goes away, I had a slightly damp pillowcase go away and all the sheets stank for ages.
You might need to open the draws or rotate things round a bit so they are not sat for ages. You cold try vacuum bags fo some bulky things (as should help to keep them nice and would free up a bit of space to help airflow in the draws.
