You do get some good things on Freecycle so I disagree with whoever said people would rather sell the good stuff on Ebay. :o

I agree, and it happens for several reasons.
*Some people don't want anything to do with Ebay because they have pre-judged it wrongly, I know of one particular cutting-nose-off scenario where someone got a PS2 and 20 games, + dancemat + 4 memory cards; because he'd heard of someone that knew someones aunties cousins uncle that Ebay had overcharged them £1.00  just how some people are I guess, believe anything! (look at USA politics now for evidence)
*Some people have no idea of worth for something, Often they are wealthy and they don't really understand the concept of second-hand.
*Some people enjoy giving something away so they are charitable, gives a doing-there-bit feeling, which is good.
*Sometimes it's just easier to give it away then try to sell it.

Anyway, for whatever reason, don't knock it till you've tried it

  • When we moved out for the first time we bought alot of our stuff off eBay, worked out alot cheaper than purchasing it form a shop, it wasn't the best quality but it was something.

Thanks to being inspired by this thread I bought a futon off e-bay for <£20 when I was quite happily looking at buying a new one from Ikea. Cheers OP!!
