Morning all and hi to any newbies
I got the dreaded letter from cap1 barstewards yesterday :mad: 34.9% the greedy sods!!! I'm not sure what to do about it as it's the only card I have left but I so resent having to pay that much interest! I have a balance of over £3,000 on it, so no way can I pay that off before the end of December as the new interest hike starts in January! Am so bl00dy sick of them! I can't face ringing them at the moment cos I'm so mad I might just say something nasty to the poor person at the other end of the phoneThis debt business is one step forward and about 10 steps back :mad:
Right rant over
All this holiday talk is making me very jealous too as I can't see me ever being able to afford one in this lifetime:o oh well I might win the lottery or the euroanyway to all those going away hope you have a fab time!

Have you seen the article on here about the new Halifax charges??
Unbelievable! So, I'm going to have to pay at least 30GBP in interest to them every month! As there is just no way I can afford to pay it off before the new charges come into effect and I can't transfer to a new account as I am no longer a UK resident.
How can they do this??? Money grabbing little barstewards! Arghhhhhhhhhh.
I'm within the agreed limit and bringing it down each month, but I need the account to service my other debts - which don't accept payments from foreign bank accounts it seems (at least, not that I can see).
I'm really p'cssed off!! How are we ever supposed to clear debt when they add ridiculous charges like this? And change the charges whenever they ruddy feel like it!!!

A thread on the general DFW board has just started on this.
I'm wondering if we can sweet talk Martin into campaigning on this for us.

A couple of people at work are up in arms about this. It seems the way they've gone about it is very under-handed.
Apparantly, the letter just looks like a flyer, not a formal document. One friend rang up to dispute the charges (she isn't overdrawn) as she has 2 current account with them so theoretically could be charged £120 per month were she to have my overdraft.
Helpfully, they said they had considered this, so could offer a personal loan to help her out of her "situation". She said "I don't have a situation" and promptly switched accounts to A&L after 20 years as a Halifax customer. Shabby
Clearing my OD is my number one priority as it's costing £32 per month - providing I stay inside the limit...
Hope you can sort it Euro0 -
Haven't even received a letter yet!
You'd think, as they know I live abroad, they would send me this information electronically! But nooooooooooooooooooo, of course not.
The last thing I want is another bl00dy loan!
I swear to God, they are ENCOURAGING people to get into more debt as they are leaving no other option!
Off to rant on the other thread. GrrrrrrFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0
