Oooh! I can't wait until I have got to a high enough level to get a pink barn (and lots of other pink stuff!)! And I want a bigger farm - not far off being able to get one now, I think!!

Mary: I love how neat your farm is! Separate enclosures for your different animals - I love it!

Right, OH and i have been talking and have decided to also start making some small PADs as a start to a moving fund. As most of you are probably aware we are living with OHs parents at the minute, whilst they have been great, we dont want it to be a long term thing. So we are hoping to move back into a rented house shortly after christmas, and therefore have decided to start putting a bit of money aside for savings aswell.
I know your not supposed to save while you have debts but i think it is the best option for us. So today have kick started our savings today with an extra PAD of 68.00. We eventually hope to have about 2000 pound in savings to pay the first months rent, deposit and letting agent fees.

  • Afternoon,

PaD for me today of £11.10 please Jo

Hope all the farmers have had productive weekends

Have just spent the last 20 mins staring into my cupboards and I have now come to the conclusion that there is enough food in there for the week and that I shouldn't need to buy anything. At least I need to start the week with good intentions :o

I believe that this no longer necessarily holds true. It was OK when you could rely on a company only slashing your credit limit if you misused an account or could be pretty sure of getting a personal loan in an emergency. However, this is no longer the case. It is more important than ever to try to have some emergency money put away in case the lenders let you down when you need their services the most.
So although rainy day savings may still be an extravagance, an emergency fud no longer is. If I needed a new gearbox for my van (they have notorious gearbox issues), that would set me back around 2 - 3 grand. The daft thing is that if all the lenders withdrew credit at short notice (they usually seem to do it first and tell you after), I could effectively be bankrupted. Pretty daft really as the lenders don't get their money back because they wouldn't stump up a bit more to let me keep earning. Such a scenario is certainly a possibility - though I would probably seek out a loan shark in such a situation and give their debt priority.
