Neighbours opposite went out today & left their little boy behind in the garden, they were only gone half an hour, but he can't be more than 4, I was afraid to leave the kitchen & sat in the window watching til they came home.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

:eek::eek::eek: That was a very kind thing (and a very wise thing!) to do, Hester, but I'm furious that you were put in that situation! Whatever were they thinking of?!

    Afternoon everyone.

Hester I am shocked. I would be reporting them quite frankly. At that age kids do not recognise danger - anything could have happened to him. I would be ringing your council for the Local Safeguarding Boards number. sorry but it may have only been half an hour but that's half an hour too long.

We've had a pleasant day. Not been as sunny as they promised but very warm. Went to local country park, fed ducks, walked, played on play equipment etc. Have come back, baked some custard biscuits and eaten 4 of them ooops! Bit more-ish and they won't last very long at this rate!
Having chicken, mash and roasted veg in olive oil and garlic for tea. Smells lovely in my kitchen.
Sorry I've read the thread but can't reply individually as I am trying to delete a load of photos from laptop, upload some to facebook and cook tea. Not so much multi tasking but juggling!!!
Be here bright and early tomorrow no doubt.

Marie - hope kitty turns up xxx

OMG Hester! Cam't beleive it - thank goodness you were there and willing

Just back from a lovely weekend with 12yo dd - we went to the british museum for a talk on creation myths of the ancient egyptians which was ... erm .... interesting  and then to the theatre to see Carrie's War. I wasn't impressed with the play but dd loved it. Even though we could have got back from the theatre easily we booked a couple of beds in a YHA at Holland Park. It was a bit of an experiment really and as dd coped with dorm life we should be able to go away together a lot more. This morning we have been to the VandA and fortnum and mason -:eek::eek::eek::eek: at the prices .... and the weird stuff - chocolate coated ants, a baked tarantula, bbq flavoured fried worms - yuck

back home now and having a welcome cup of tea courtesy of eldest dd before tackling the house and back-to-work stuff
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Hi all
The neighbours have no idea I was watching out for him & would probably be annoyed I stuck my nose in, I'd like to report them, but not sure who to & doubt anything would be done.
I've just had a phone call from DS1, he & his GF have just got engaged, I'm so pleased for them & so excited.
    Hugs Hester

    Hi all,

Hester - congratulations for your Ds and GF and well done for watching the LO - it's scary that his parents would leave him :(
Marie - :( hope thunder comes home soon x

I've been fruit picking along the footpaths behind the house. I've never seen so many damsons (although I had to convince OH they were edible as it is not a common thing to eat in Germany - they are only used dried as herbal laxative out there apparently!) :) We now have 7kgs of damson jam on the table and I've left OH in charge of 5kgs of blackberry jam (this is probably not a good idea, but he keeps interfering and doesn't understand the concept of "set-point" - I've already had to reboil half of the damson jam this morning and go and buy pectin to correct his screwup :( but he won't just s** off and let me get on with it and he's driving me loopy). I've also made two batches of bavarian plum bread and still have a huge bowl of plums and a smaller bowl of mirabelle plums to deal with. No mushrooms though as anything we found wasn't worth picking.

Right - must go and package up a set of DVD's I've just sold on ebay :) have a good evening all, cel x

    Evening peeps

just woke up from a much needed nap, not had a walk around yet to see how i feel, i`m putting it off for a while until i feel a little bit more alert :o

Todays excitement was a trip to the hospital ................. twice

I had a really bad insect bite late last night and thought nothing of it, had an antihistamine and went to bed, it didn`t seem too bad this morning when i went to w*rk but suddenly my arm swelled like a balloon and a red line appeared travelling up my arm so off to the walk in thingy at the hospital. The nurse didn`t think it needed any further treatment though and i was told just to take another antihistamine.

I went back to w*rk but apparently i was alternating between beetroot red and white and feeking quite ill so after a call to NHS direct i was sent back to the hospital, the red line up my arm had moved another 4 inches and i was getting a bit worried about it :o This time i was given some antibiotics and i had the first about 4 hours ago. Came home later and just had a nap and still feel rubbish but the line is now so far up my arm i can barely see the end of it, another 3 inches whilst i slept  hope it stops soon. Rotten insects, i`m covered in bites but one just had to be nasty GRRRR!!!!!!

Anyhow how that i`ve had a good moan i feel better :D i shall ignore the arm as much as possible and go and find something to eat.

Hester - I`m so glad that you were there to watch out for the child, i would definitely give someone a call about it but i`ve no idea who.

Celyn - All that jam sounds smashing, i can`t wait to get blackberrying. The last time that i went there were hardly any ready.

Pink - Your holiday sounds great, glad you enjoyed it.

Meanmarie - Any news of Thunder? i`ve been thinking about him on and off most of the day.

    Off to raid the fridge.

    Have a nice evening peeps.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Evening all,

Very dark and dismal here to-day, very little rain though, so maybe to-morrow will be better.

Thanks for all the kind thoughts about Thunder, still no news unfortunately, OH is convinced that he became disorientated and has been taken in by somebody, will leave it another day and then do the rounds of the houses close by.

Getting my car back to-morrow, have to take courtesy car back first and have insurance transferred back on to my own....bit of a nuisance really, need to take it to a garage then and have it checked out for damage, then have insurance assessor come and look at it...hate all the faffing around.

Roast chicken with carrots, broccoli and potato for dinner, I baked some apples for pudding with ice-cream.

Hugs to all in need or want

    Marie
