Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 23rd August! It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning. Dull start to the day here.
Church this morning and hopefully a quieter day doing not much. It's been a hectic week what with tortoises and stuff. Good news is we have found more, well the 'suspect' had got them back and called me to say he has done so. At least some villains have conciences these days!
Went to walk around St Michaels mount yesterday it was as cold as winter and everyone was wearing coats. Can't be right. Who wants to holiday in England next year. Watched the highest tide at Porthleven and ebjoyed a pint before going home. Not a bad day out.
Spent only £11 too.
Some asked a seagull question which I don't know the answer too.... sorry.
Well. Nice morning coffee and quiet strat to the day..... have a good one

Hopefully it will stay nice for when i get home at tea time:D
DH cut the privet last night and by the time we had cleared all the cuttings up it was almost dark  i can`t believe how quickly the nights are drawing in now. I`ve had to adjust the lights which are on timers twice already in less than a month.
Washing is in the machine and i shall ring home shortly and ask DH to hang it all out on the line so hopefully it will all be nice and dry by the time i get home.

Morning folks
|Good to see you here Halight - wondered if you were all ok. Sorry to hear about the sickness bug - horrible thing to have.
We have a nice breeze this morning but the forecast is for 27oC! I'm fed up with the heat - we haven't had rain for ages. Moan, moan, moan I know but I'm ready for autumn now! Sorry for those who've had lots of rain this summer though - it's horrible for kids off school.
Went to Norwich to meet a friend on Fri then down to Brighton to in laws yesterday so the house seems to have created its own mess. Need to get some shopping today - think I'll get a chicken and then s t r e t c h it during the week.I'll have to go to MrT as I want to use our vouchers. I've been going to MrM lately and find it much better - quieter (!) and the meat is better I think. I haven't seemed to get myself organised to go to our butcher for ages.
Some more gardening on the cards today. We need to take a few bags of cuttings to the dump and then tackle another 2 bushes.
Will pick up some soda crystals when \I'm out as the thread about unblocking sinks reminded me that my kitchen one is getting sluggish.
Hope you are feeling a bit better PenPin.
Have a good Sunday everyone

Morning All
Halight - glad you have recovered, have my fingers crossed that the twins dont get it
(((Hugs))) to anyone under the weather.
N9eav - sorry buts its lovely here today, since our hols on 7th August I cant really complain about the weather - the east has had it much better this year.
Went to the party last night which is why it is a late posting from me, wasnt great but I showed my face. I was very tired from running around in the daytime. Had a great lunch at La Tasca, because of our voucher 50% off food it cost £35 for 3 adults and one child.
Not sure what to do today, its definately too hot for a roast so will be barbeque. Will be mainly having a garden day but do fancy going out somewhere for an hour or so. Will see if anything is on locally or might see what time the canal boat trips are on.
Oh and I must pick loads of runner beans and get them blanched for the freezer. Have done a menu plan so need to do an online shop too.
Off now for another cup of coffee, have a great Sunday.x0 -
Morning all,
We are at the holiday cottage in wivelescome, ( i think thats how you spell it), had a good trip down, and its a beautiful here, but a lot colder than home
, we lit the log burner last night, we will need to get some more logs, we are right next to a river and pond, dont know if that makes it cooler
Bought enough food for most of the week, we will eat out one night, and I have stuff for sandwiches and breakfast.
We think we might pop to clarks village today, it threating rain, so will go there and maybe have a ride round after.
Marie not sure whats happened to your cat, will read back now, but hope he is ok xx
Haribo, glad the hospital visit went well xx

Hi Guys,
Well today I feel much more positive. I am slowly putting lots of my old text books on Amazon and Ebay and gradually sorting out my old work stuff. For a year I couldn't face it as it meant I might not get back. I think I am reconciled that it will be a while before I get back to work so need to live with that. Hence getting the help to sort my books and files.
My family have just got back with another load of blackberries for the freezer. They are wonderful and juicy.:T
My sons ticket has been sent by special delivery so big sigh of relief all round:j
Im sorry if I dont respond individually to people. I find it really hard to scroll through and get confused easily.
Hope you have a peaceful day and hope that those who are poorly get better too.
love,
MollyI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
