So if the OP had had an accident on the way back who would have picked up the bill? The insurance company could surely argue that as it was a business trip it was outside the scope of cover. Which leaves the police?
I don’t know about the police being not able to realistically seize the car. Surely they just confiscate the keys and get it recovered as they are entitled to do to vehicles without RTA cover?0 -
Is that right? But this was in your earlier post that I omitted to quote:
I think your spinning, creativity, dissembling and prevarication is beginning to catch up with you! When in a hole ... and all that!
The OP said from the very beginning that he was being paid and that he was truthful with the officer at all times. There is no reason at all why he shouldn't test the evidence - other than the fact the court can impose a more severe penalty - however, you are suggesting he goes further than that. If he commits perjury he could get away with it or could face a far harsher penalty than the one he's currently complaining about.
No, I was just hypothesising as to what could happen to illustrate the weakness of the evidence which the police seem to have. I was not suggesting the OP commits perjury.
In fact the only thing I have suggested the OP should do is to get proper legal advice. Given the circumstances and the seriousness of the charges that must be better than listening to the armchair legal experts on here.0 -

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

The policeman will have written the OP's reply down in his pocket notebook. That'll do nicely for court if necessary. :rolleyes:0 -

The OP doesn't want to go to court though. So it is all immaterial.0 -

It might never come to court. A good legal defence could get the charges dropped before it ever gets there.
I know many people on here enjoy hearing about others misfortune and would like nothing better than to see this poor bloke get clobbered with the full force of the law.
The fact is the best course of action for the OP is to get proper legal advice instead of speculation from a load of unqualified people who he doesn't even know. It seems some people are trying to discourage him from doing this just to satify their own thirst for blood.0 -

It def won't go to court - the OP is not going to risk his money taking it there. He's been put off court by the folk on Pepipoo not by anyone here on MSE.
If you feel so strongly why don't you offer to fund his campaign?
Or are you just anti-plod? A lot of folk are for one reason or another.

I agree, the OP needs to speak to his Insurer and ask them if they would have covered him and if so can they produce confirmation of this in writing (Prefably a Letter of Indemnity) and also take legal advice from a motoring law specialist such Nick Freeman (Obviously ask for prices upfront)or make a call to his Motor Legal Protection Cover as they may give some legal advice.
He also needs to declare the No Insurance FPM (IN10) to his new Insurers or existing Insurers.
P.S Razkazz and myself have no desire for blood, we are simply stating how it works on the Insurance side0 -
I haven't read the whole thread but this sounds absolutely ridiculous and OTT. If you want some real advice from people in-the-know then I'd visit https://www.pepipoo.com which has a lot of information for drivers vs The Law and a very good FAQ section and a forum full of knowledgeable people.0
