MH don't worry - that which doesn't kill you will make you stronger, sticks and stone etc etc. You'll get through this even with your sister being mean!!

Her husband is of the opinion and quite rightly so that you shouldnt borrow full stop so I know they don't have debts, he simply wouldn't allow it. He made sure she paid off her student loan before they got mortgage etc. And yes I respect him for being like that but at the same time know exactly what he thinks of me now and I believe she's talking the way she is because she hasn't the intellect to pull back and realise what is said in her home is just one person's opinion and thoughts and they have no idea of the extent of this stupid trap we fell into and now had the rug pulled from beneath us or what is actually happening in our lives.

I know he has a lot of money in savings (hence the trailer tent) and I know he is tight, very very tight and im not talking frugal im talking tight. He doesn't have heating on, my sis is on maternity leave and made a comment about how the electricity bill will be higher because shes having the lights on during the night to feed the baby. She is going back to work just so she can keep her pension up, they live in a small house but are not prepared to make it into a home as they will move to bigger and better place soon (they've been there 3 years with rotting windows) and believe any money spent on it will be wasted.

You see there's all this going on and I keep my gob shut. I let her live her own life and keep my thoughts on what hubby says and does to my self. All I would like is for her to keep her comments and thoughts to herself but I always said I was the nice one! I love my sister, have a lot of respect for my brother in law but I do disagree with them. They don't seem to live their life comfortably, whats the use of having pots of money for a rainy day when you're livng in a cold unhomely place and then turn around and think about buying a trailer tent.

I know our situations are worlds apart and believe me I wish to gosh I could have his way with money but I don't for one minute want to live their life.

Just for the record.. this new job is the result of him jumping ship before his previous company went down (not what she told me by the way, what a friend told me) She thinks the world is rosey and bad things don't happen to her, either that or it's what she wants everyone to think but realy she's s*itting herself.

I wish my dad was alive, he would have helped me and he wouldn't allow my sister to be sitting in a cold draughty house either!

What a mean cow. Tell her to eff off, the miserable dog. I admire your patience - I would have snapped by now. But again, perhaps you should? Perhaps you should tell how nasty she is being, your whole life has been destroyed (milk it a bit) and how the one person you hoped you could rely on, appears to enjoy taking the pss.

Better still, give me her phone number and I'll tell her for you.

Free?? My !!!!. I am cross now - so I can imagine how you must feel. Silly cow needs a slap.

I may come back and post something later when I am in a better frame of mind and I might have something constructive to say!

Must of been a good night then Skylight;)

LOL! It was a great night!

I just cant stand bullies. I accept that people are allowed an opinion and should feel free to voice that opinion, but when you cannot or will not consider someone elses feelings when you do that, then you need to be slapped down.
  • none of my family and friends batted an eyelid, well apart from 1, when i told him he looked at me like i'd just said 'hi i'm a registered sex offender', he had a rant and then i told him it was none of his business and to !!!!!! off:Danyway could give a fook, fair enough if i'd racked up £80k on drugs and holidays, but mine was from my house being repo'd.

most people say to me ' oh so and so went bankrupt last year too'

I had a look at my post code area on the London Gazette and there were loads of BR's including one 4 doors away who has now moved. My family don't care about me being BR, it makes no difference, I was always broke anyway. The only difference now is I owe nowt.;)

She just getting ridiculus. She commented last week that she didn't feel guilty now about taking our baby equipment without giving us any thing in return because we 'havn't really paid for it anyway'

    And

Hi MicheH, hope you are doing well. I know how insentive family can be, but I was wondering just taking into consideration those two quotes above whether your sister actually believes that her Mr Right is right? If she's also a new mum she could be under a lot of pressure thinking about saving money for Mr Frugal & looking after a baby. If he's so well off why did they buy new stuff for their baby? With that comment it makes you wonder what state their finances are really in....

Keep your chin up you've doen the best thing for you and your family. You can now enjoy your holidays withour thinking about every penny you're spending. IYKWIM.

    What an insensitive girl.

The only two people who know about our struggle and the extent of it, is a very close friend and my dad.

All the debt we have is my husbands, all racked up behind my back and when I found out, a lot of wee snide comments made by my Mother in Law made sense, she thought the debt was all mine!!!

I was bloody fuming and have to say enlightened her a smidgen - shes 85, with a dodgy ticker, so I did go the whole hog - old witch.

The other week there she decided to ease her guility conscious and buy her only grandchild (our son who she never sees) a desk. She let him pick the desk and I was to pay for it, and she'd give me the money back, provided I show her the receipt.

Talk about fit to be tied!!!

She did cough up and no I didn't produce any receipt.

Rise above it I say - you never know, perhaps your sister will be glad of your advice some day.

    Miss P x
