I am sorry, I should have made it clear that I didn't for a moment believe what that April 2006 email told me - in my mind, quoting identical charges for 0845 and 0844 calling and for 0870 and 0871 calling therein made it obvious they'd either made errors in their reply or the author really hadn't got a clue.

As you may have seen from the various versions of 'the Heinz plan' for Orchids since then, it really just decided me to always recommend using BT (the 1280 prefix) for calling 0844 and 0871 numbers. 0845 and 0870 have been a different matter because, sometimes, 18185 were cheaper (for a long time, 18185, in an obvious error, charged 0.5p/minute at all times to call 0845 numbers).

Hence, the brief answer to your question is, "Sorry, I haven't a clue because I've never risked using Primus for 0871 calls."
