Ive looked through other threads and more confused than ever. Im not very clued up about computers!
I ran AVG 8 (free version) and it found two trojans. I clicked to remove them and now Im getting loads of error messages - probably about 50-60 on start up.
msabdqmryni.dll is the one thats mentioned on most, but obviously linked to lots of stuff that I use.
I did a search online and found a few sites that say to try system restore (tried with 3 dates and none will work) or to find the file and download it.
Basically, this is a long thread asking if anyone can recommend a safe site to download this file from? Or a tool I can download who can fix this (preferably free, but now happy to pay to get this sorted)
Thank you for your time

run this to see if there is other stuff to remove
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.- Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
- Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
- When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
- When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
- Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
- Then click Finish.
- MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
- On the Scanner tab:
- Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
- Then click on the Scan button.
- If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
- The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
- When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
- Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
- Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
- Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
- The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
- Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Thanks for your replies - Ill try yours now Browntoa.
An example of the error - this one is when I try to start google chrome
Chrome.exe - unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because msabdqmryni.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem.
I get this message when I open anything and even when the computer is starting up0 -

I really appreciate all your help but Im still getting errors
I can access net through internet explorer, but not google chrome. I just downloaded firefox and cant open it either. I ran the one you said tanglefoot, but found no errors.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Am I going to have to re-install the OS?0 -
What happens if you try to reinstall Google Chrome?0
-
Should I uninstall it first, then reinstall?
On last restart I wrote out all the .exe seeminly affected by the files - there was exactly 76 and it includes the program that browntoa recommended.0 -
